The Repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell

So, to all my foreign live journal friends, it has been over twenty four hours  since DADT has went out of effect in the U.S. military and homosexual soldiers no longer have to hid who there are for fear of repercussions. So glad DADT has been repealed. I'm sure there may still be occasional problems for gay people because attitudes don't change overnight but it's a big step forward.

This for maybe the first few months they will probably be hesitant to be "too" out, but eventually. However, my second favorite story of the day was the Lieutenant in the Navy went to Vermont to marry his partner after hiding for so long.

I saw that not too long ago! I love that he has such an amazing dad, who barely hesitated over the news before reassuring his son he'd always love him. :D
