I'm not surprised by Jobs' death, and of course my inner cynic wants to blame homeopathy or whatever the hell it was he was into; an anecdote that has stayed with me revolves around macrobiotic Indian food (or something) he tried to share with Gil Amelio back in the day, but of course I digress (and I don't really trust my own memory at this stage ( Read more... )

I didn't realize you worked at Claris so long. I thought you were there only a couple years.

Question: at the end of paragraph 13, you say
By the end of 2007, it was clear that things were going to be OK

did you mean "at the end of 1997"? I didn't think you were still working for Apple in 2007, since you were living in San Diego.

I don't have copies of my email from back then, alas (it was all in QuickMail format, I think)... and I can't remember if he replied to me directly, or just forwarded my email with comments to the Apple engineer.

I think I have a printout of the whole "no more hamburgers, say hello to the soba bar" email somewhere, though...
