Greg sometimes wondered how he did it. James was possibly the best sleeper in the world. Once he was asleep, Greg wasn't even sure an earthquake would be able to wake him up. He envied the other man this ability, and had for as long as he could remember, way back to when they were just kids and Greg would spend half his weekends at James' house.

Now, of course, it was even more pronounced, because Greg was lucky if he got two or three hours of sleep a night, maybe five if he took a double-dose of Vicodin. He spent most of every night lying awake, staring at the ceiling or wandering around or playing piano in the living room, or…

Tonight, though, he concentrated on James. James was a snuggler, always had been. Greg… wasn't. So tonight he found himself subjected to an arm around his chest, and a face smashed against his neck. He listened to James' deep, even breathing, felt the pulse against him, and thought about how crazy it was that he was able to put up with so much affection. And that he didn't mind James drooling on him a little.

And the fact that sometimes, James took the pain away. Even in his sleep.
