so I just caught myself up on your blog. sounds exciting. if you get into Hawaii, I will DEFINITELY come visit you!
Yeah, NCLB and the WASL are pretty much horrendous utter wastes of time. It's costing school districts big money, it's taking away from student learning and it's more or less pointless. Fine, in WASP districts, people do OK. in ANY district with minorities or poor people, kids fail. ABSURD. And giving schools money based on how well kids did -- BULLSHIT. I'm sorry, the schools who do worse NEED THE MONEY, don't take it away from them, they'll only continue to decline! Utterly ridiculous. Which means that more and more districts have to pass levies, and if they don't pass the levy ... shit outta luck.
anyways. major pet peeve of mine.
glad you seem to be doing OK, school rejections and all. I don't know how you can stand to do grad school ... I think I'd die, to go from Harvey Mudd to grad school. If I do go, it won't be for a couple of years -- I need a break!
