haha, 'tis true. count on astronomers to come up with awesome sounding names. that's what we do at 4am when we have to keep observing. acronyms, too. (MACHO vs. WIMP, anybody?) has xkcd done a comic on acronyms, I wonder?

and not to ruin a good comment with fact, but I realize now that the book in question is actually called "Cataclysmic Variable Stars." so, not quite as epic, sorry.
