Baking or Playing...

Xavier leaned against the door of the kitchen and watched Vicki move about the kitchen happily. She really shined when she was baking, you could really tell that she belonged in the kitchen. He moved quietly to the little island where she'd left the cupcake batter as she prepared the cupcake pan with wrappers.

With a smile, he leaned against the counter and reached to swipe his finger through it. The hand that came out of no where to smack his made him blink up as he pulled back with a sheepish grin. "Hi."

Vicki's hands settled on her hips with a raised brow, though the corner of her mouth quirked slightly in a smile. "You don't get to taste until they are baked and done."

He moved around the island to wrap her in a hug, kissing her softly. "But they smell good already. Wanted to taste your newest type of cupcake."

She kissed him back before she pulled out of his arms so she could fill the pan with the batter and set them in the preheated oven. She set the timer before turning back to him. "It'll be a special treat for all. Lisa helped me with the recipe."

Xavier watched her with a smile for the mention of Lisa. The two were practically inseparable when it came to baking and making up recipes. "She'll be excited to try them though she might be pouty for not getting to help you make them when she comes home from Ronnie's soccer match."

Vicki moved back to him, her arms wrapped around to hug him while she rested against his chest. "She knew I was making them. She'll be excited to try them when she gets home. And Ronnie's team is coming over after the game, which is why Lisa and I created them. Something special for everyone."

He dipped to kiss her again with a smile. "You're so good to our family."

She kissed him back before she grins. "My family. You all deserve it."

He chuckled softly as he nipped her lower lip. "Yes, your family. Always."

She snuggled into him with a content sound, her body relaxing into him. Though she doesn't stay there that long before she pulled back gently. "Help me get the kitchen cleaned up and some spaghetti made for everyone?"

Xavier smiled and kissed her temple gently. "Of course, my love. And garlic bread."

"And garlic bread." She kissed him softly, happily, before they both moved to clean the kitchen and make enough spaghetti and garlic bread for Ronnie's hungry soccer team and the family. Banter back and forth kept the kitchen full of giggling and laughing as they moved about and cooked, feeling light and perfect.
