Aye, i'd heard about this before...i'm shocked that more people don't realize that making guns illegal only stops people who are obeying the law in the first place. I mean, ok, it'll stop the kids that die by playing with parents guns, but there are other ways of preventing that. Even worse, people getting tried and convicted for defending themselves...i mean, it's FAIR in this case, since, say, they were breaking the law by having weapons, but there's a difference between "Fair" and "Just". Ah, well, apparently London needs its own NRA :-P

There is freedom for everyone; willingness to accept that does not come with a gun. Never believe that a bullet makes you more free; it will lock you more tightly then chains ever could.

Prevention of Crime Act anonymous May 25 2006, 22:36:55 UTC
Sad but true. However the 1953 Act allows for the carraige of a weapon 'with Lawful Authority' Well folks the Bill of Rights is all the lawful authority a British citizen requires because the 1953 Act does not repeal the 1689 Act.

The Home Secretary of the day also is on record as saying that it was not the intention of the Bill to put at risk of peril (or being prosecuted) the innocent citizen going about his daily rounds.

It has taken 53 years but finally the cat is out of the bag as far as the Prevention of Crime Act is concerned, perhaps now we will see more innocent citizens prepared to defend themselves and prevent crime here in the UK.
