Ugh, I'm gonna vent by ranting and raving about Dell Computer Corp. for a bit, so I'll be nice and play slice and dice.

Okay, I discovered upon ripping open my computer case today that I got royally screwed by Dell.
First, their advertising for the new Comp I got was very misleading. Turns out the motherboard has only Four (4) PCI slots, and NO AGP slots. Plus they've got a 1.8GHz P4 CPU running on a board with only a 100mhz bus and 256 L1 cache, what a waste of a CPU! Plus their Video card is a fake, the Intel 3D Rage 64mb video card isn't a card, it's integrated video, and causes 95% of my games to crash!!!!

End result, all the good Video cards are AGP only, so I can't even upgrade my video, so I have to do one of two things, build a new computer myself, or buy a new computer. Guess which one I'm gonna do? He he he.. you guessed it. I'm going to build a Frankenstein Monster!

I'm going to buy an Asus ATX Motherboard with a 600MHz front-side bus. 6 TIMES faster that my current motherboard. Plus it's got 2 AGP 8X slots and 6 PCI slots. 512K L2 Cache onboard, so It'll make that 1.8GHz P4 Chip of mine purr like a kitten. I'll throw this board into an Antec Workstation Tower. It's got a high end 400-Watt Power supply, 2 80Watt Intake fans and 2 120Watt exhaust fans. Plus 8 Drive bays. Then I'll cannibalize my current computer for everything else.. almost. I'll take out the 80GB HD and stuff it in the new comp, I'll take the 16X DVD drive, the 40X/12X/40X CD-RW Drive, the 3.5" Floppy and the new Sound card I just bought, a SoundBlaster Audigy 5.1. I'll also take out the 100mb NIC card from the old comp and the two 256MB DIMMs and stuff that in the new tower. Then I'll go buy a REAL video card. the new nVidia GeForce 4 4600Ti, 128MB AGP 8X Video card (this has a 350mhz CPU onboard, plus the following:

Samples 4.8 Billion AA(anti-aliased) megapixels/sec
Renders 136 Million polygons/sec
Video In/Video Out (VIVO) Connection (you can plug your TV into this)
Maximum Resoloution: 2048 x 1536
1.23 Trillion Operations/Sec
Renders 136 Million Vertices/Sec
-=*=-=*=-=*=-=*=-=*=-=*=-=*=-=*=-=*=-=*=-=*=-=*=-=*=-=*=-=*=-=*=-=*=-
That will solve my gaming problems, and the total package will only cost me $540. ($100 for the motherboard, $140 for the tower, and $300 for the video card)

In the meantime, I'll just have to make do with playing crappy games and goofing off on the Mud (Telnet MMORPG called Dead of Night. http://dead.greenwing.com)
