Staring into the unfathomable abyss that is the Grand Canyon, my first coherent thought was a renewed appreciation of domesticity, i.e. everything the Grand Canyon is not. There is nothing soft, easy, or uncomplicated about it. The very name "Grand Canyon" is a misnomer. Not the "grand" part, it's certainly that; but this is no more a "canyon"

I don't imagine that anybody could know the way. It sounds to me like you're doing very well so far though. Possibly it doesn't feel like it, but to an onlooker, I assure you that you're looking pretty impressive so far. Your strategy of playing things her way to begin with seems like a good one - telling her the truth from the outset seems like a sure way to alienate her - but do you think that the full truth will out in the end? I'm all for not causing unnecessary hurt, but frankly I think that you need it, and so does she. She must have wondered. Who wouldn't? And even if it's painful to hear, she probably deserves the truth, so she can see just what it was that she was pressured into
