Now for Arthur. I can see Arthur being the innocent one of the two

Arthur could not have become Champion just by fighting in tournaments. He's had military command experience, otherwise the men would not follow him prince or no. We see him being sent on patrols into the villages in Episode 3, and returning from them in Episode 5, also patrolling with his father in Episode 7. His father is worried, but he hardly keeps Arthur tied to Uther's belt.
