WARNING: IMAGE HEAVY, NOT DIAL UP FRIENDLY, spoilers for a whole bunch of 2009 jdramas
I've been watching all the posts at picspammy and they've been really interesting to see and some of the graphics are amazing but to be honest a lot of the TV that's been mentioned is nothing that i've been watching. I'm (obviously) more of a Japanese (with a twist of Korean) drama watcher and i thought (crazily) i'd do a picspam showing all the stuff i'd watched. What i seemed to forget was that for every one US show, you can fit maybe 3 or 4 jdramas. So this post might go on a bit...
(In case you're wondering what's with the months after shows it's basically when i finished watching them. It's an easy way for me to remember how much i watch each month 'cos i don't tag my posts. Which i really should.)
Being Human Season 1 - UK (MARCH): I remember hearing lots of things about this, caught a bit of one of the episodes and had to watch the rest. Got utterly addicted (WHY SIX EPISODES?) and then rued the day i'd got into it 'cos i'd have to wait 9+ months for the new series. IT'S COMING IN TWO WEEKS OMGYAY! ♥ Mitchell, Annie. Oh hell, all three of them.
Personal Affairs - UK (JULY): Again, i saw the trailers for this and it seemed interesting. Plus it had Lauren from Being Human so i wanted to see what it was about. It's also a British sort of Sex in the City if the girls worked in an office. It's also complete trash but hilarious and crazy at the same time. Shame not a lot of people know about it. ♥ Sid. If only for her attempts at making lewd comments about sex and floundering abysmally. It's funny, trust me.
10 Things I Hate About You - US (SEPTEMBER): I can't believe of all the TV shows that are on, THIS is the one i've watched fully. I mean, i'm keeping an eye on Ugly Betty but this! It's only hald an hour per episode and it runs so easily and made me lol each week. Also, Kat/Patrick are hot. ♥ Chastity. And the dad. Heh.
Misfits - UK (DECEMBER): THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER AND I ♥ IT TO BITS. Seriously, my favourite UK based drama (although BH does come a close second). The characters are normal and funny and interesting and crazy and WHY ONLY SIX EPISODES?! As with BH i am now going to have to wait 9+ months. Bloody history repeating isn't it. Curtis? ♥ Nathan/Kelly OTP! NATHAN FULL STOP.
KDRAMAS: Boys Over Flowers, Coffee Prince (JULY), Capital Scandal (JULY), You're Beautiful
I got dragged into watching BOF I still damn you darkeyedwolf! XP as my very first kdrama and in a way i'm glad it was BOF 'cos i made so many lovely friends and way too many stupid icons/gifs for it lol. It also introduced me to Lee Min Ho who seriously needs to make a new drama otherwise i'll remember him as the dude who started off well and then peddled doughnuts.
CP was my attempt to rectify the wreckage of BOF and boy did it do it so well! I think the main thing i took from this drama was Gong Yoo being very hot. And being in the army woe. But he's out now so here's hoping for a drama next year!
CS was so amazing with the clothes and characters and colours and scenery and story and it had Jo Ma Ja and Cha Sang Joo who are now two of my favourite badass female characters.
YAB i have yet to finish and that's all down to Minam who i'm seriously not a fan of. Tae Kyung on the other hand is one hilarious emo prince. It kind of says something when my OTP for the show is Tae Kyung/Shin Woo/Jeremy. Oh yeah.
PRE 2009 JDRAMAS: Kamisama, Mou Sukoshi Dake (FEBRUARY), Mop Girl (FEBRUARY), Nemureru Mori (FEBRUARY), Concerto (FEBRUARY), HYD II (APRIL), Shibatora *rewatch (MAY), Seikei Bijin (MAY), Hatsu Taiken (JULY), Renai Hensachi (AUGUST), Shiawase ni Naritai! (AUGUST), Hotaru no Hikari (DECEMBER)
Let's see. I watched most of these dramas either for new actors i'd seen in other dramas, Kimura's involved, or just actors who i really like. I enjoyed most of them except the sodding ending to Nemureru Mori. Will never get over that ¬____¬ but Kamisama, Shibatora, Seikei and Hotaru are the highlights.
Mei-chan no Shitsuji (MARCH): How did i manage to get through this?! Oh wait, the slashy undertones between Hiro's Rihito and Osamu's Shinobu. XD
Mousou Shimai (MARCH): All i got from this drama was Kichise Michiko and the other two in various states of undress, but more so Kichise 'cos she is smoking hot. X____X
Zeni Geba: Matsuken is EVOL WITH A SCAR and everyone dies 'cos this is such an inspiring drama(!)
Uta no Oniisan: Ohno alternates between emo and mugging in front of the camera. Also, Prince Himuro is classic and i wish he was real 'cos a kid's show with him would be A+.
Voice: I've got to finish this off but OT6! Eita! Toma! Satomi! Yuya! Tomohito! And overly sentimental endings! Yay!
Atashinchi no Danshi (JUNE): Waaay better than Mei-chan, but that was more due to the copious sauna scenes. Also Maki wasn't annoying and i was in it mainly for Kaname Jun. And Osamu. And Yusuke. But not Seto. Or little brother. Please. ¬___¬
MR BRAIN (JULY): ♥♥♥ All hail Kimura's hair! I think it deserved it's own billing to be honest. It was the craziest thing he's done but it worked 'cos i watched it and didn't stop to question everything that happened. I want a film. Or an SP. Or a second series.
Konkatsu: I know a lot of people had high expectations for this but then didn't like it 'cos it was sort of slow and not much happened but seriously, you want stupid you go and watch *insert manga adaptation*. This was a great example where normal life was shown to us and although it ended up with a couple, Kuni/Haruna/Shigeru were totally OT3.
Shiroi Haru: Another drama that i went into without much expections and it hooked me quickly. Haruo/Sachi! OMG! How adorable were they (even if you did sometimes feel like someone was going to go down the pedophile route or something) and Haruo/Shiori were pretty good together too.
Ghost Friends (AUGUST): This was so adorable and stupid and i wish Asuka/Kaito were the OTP but HE'S DEAD and has a girlfriend but w/ever. Well. At least she had football player dude at school!
Otomen: ADORKABLE. Girly!Asuka/Boyish!Ryo is hilarious although i have to say my favourite character has GOT to be Juta 'cos he's a dork and somehow manages to get away with hiding himself with the most pathetic cat call.
Ninkyo Helper: ♥♥♥ TSUYOSHI YOU AND YOUR NAKED SELF ARE AMAZING. Yakuza + old people + hot actors + epic theme song + cutest kid ever = AMAZING
Orthros no Inu: I was in this only for evil!Tackey and the possibility of him seducing Asami's character. Seeing as she couldn't fight her way out of a carrier bag, it didn't happen as well. Oh well. At least evil!Sasaki Kuranosuke made up for it. And, strangely enough, Hikaru from Hey Say Whatsit.
JIN (DECEMBER): ♥♥♥ EPIC DRAMA IS EPIC. If i told everyone to watch one jdrama this year, this is it (Ninkyo comes a close second). JIN! SAKI! NOKAZE! HISTORICAL DUDE! EVERYTHING!
Koshonin 2 (DECEMBER): ♥♥♥ The hearts are mainly for Usagi Reiko who is fabulous and kickass and she probably is my favourite female character in jdrama 'cos she's a BAMF. Also, MOVIE! TAKASHI SORIMACHI! ON A PLANE! Oooooh.
Tokyo DOGS (DECEMBER): Another OT3 going on 'cos being made to choose is horrible. Serious!Shun is hilarious and has great chemistry with Yoshitaka Yuriko. AND I CALLED WHO THE BADDIE WAS BEFORE THEY SHOWED HIM! Go me!
Liar Game 2: I've not gone past the first few episodes but this is Nao and Akiyama we're talking about here. As long as Akiyama keeps up with the hot clever mastermind act then i'm happy. XD
Samurai High School: It's kind of strange but i find Samurai!Miura waaaaay hotter than normal!Miura. I think it's the combo of hair tied back, muscle showcasing vest, eyeliner and period talk that does it for me. Gayified!Shirota is a thing of lollery though - how is it possible the guy gets bullied? He's like 6 foot or something!
