On the outside Tezuka Kunimitsu looked cool and calm as he watched his students practice their back swing. On the inside he was raging emotions, his lover had been attacked but he could not leave to go to his bedside. His duty as a teacher would not let him go with ten minutes left in the day. Tezuka was not an overly emotional man, his parents had never been very affectionate but having two very affectionate lovers had changed this, and although he always kept his calm appearance, Tezuka was brimming with emotions.
He was scared, very angry, and most importantly worried about his lovers. They had never imagined something like this would happen and Tezuka could not help but worry about what this attack would do the sometimes wobbly relationship the five of them had somehow formed. Tezuka wanted to do many things mainly, go to the hospital, his emotions were a swirl of chaos but he kept those desperate emotions behind a firm fortress of determination and patience. When he could no longer stand it, Tezuka blew his whistle and the students immediately went into action, surrounding him in a circle so that they could here his announcements.
“Good job today everyone, tomorrow I want to see just as much dedication tomorrow. Have a good evening and regulars I’m trusting you to clean and lock up everything today, don’t let me down.” The regulars nodded and Tezuka turned to walk away.
‘Keigo’ Tezuka thought as he exited his school building and put his car in reverse, ‘hang on I’m on my way. Don’t you dare leave us, we’ll never be the same if you do. Please just hang on for us, hang on.’

Sanada Genichirou was glad that he did not have to appear in court on this particular day. He was glad because he would have been completely useless. His lover had been attacked, Yumako-san had just finished her call to him and Sanada did not hesitate in leaving his office. Sanada was a very traditional man, more so than even Tezuka and out of all the lovers it had taken him the longest to truly believe and be comfortable with the arrangement between his lovers and him.
His parents were very wealthy and expected many things from him, it had been a blow to himself as well as to them when he finally told them he would not do as a dutiful son should and marry a woman. Of course they did not know he was in a five way relationship but they did know he preferred men to women. He had of course tried to be the dutiful son, he had dated women, and even enjoyed himself with one or two of them (AN: And I don‘t mean sex here people) but for the most part men were easier to deal with than women.
Sanada was a loner by nature having only a select few friends and even they would say he was cold. It just was not in his nature to be as open as his Fuji and Atobe. But that did not mean he did not feel deeply for his lovers, the ring that he wore around his neck was proof of the deep regard he had for his four.
So he knew it looked odd that he was practically running out of his office building but he did not care at the moment, his lover had been hurt. Sanada did not care that he looked strange. He definitely didn’t care questions that would be asked later. It meant nothing to the usually reserved lawyer, all that mattered was Atobe, that he was alright. Nothing else compared to Sanada’s need to be at the hospital as quickly as possible and be with his other lovers as they waited for word on Atobe.

Sanada tried to collect himself a little before entering the hospital, he didn’t want to scare people looking frantic and disheveled. Taking a deep breathe, he walked into the hospital and walked up to the counter.
“Excuse me the intensive care unit is where?” He asked in a calm voice. The nurse blinked at the handsome man asking her a question before replying, “Through those doors and up two levels.”
Sanada nodded and thanked the lady before walking slowly through the doors and then running up flights of stairs not patient enough for the elevator. Collecting himself once again he exited the stairwell to see Yumako, sitting on a chair, wiping tears from her eyes.
“Yumako,” he said in a grave voice, “Sanada-san!” Yumako said jumping from her seat to bow, “Oh thank goodness you’re here, you’re the first to arrive.” Sanada nodded and walked with Yumako back to the chairs that lined the walls.
They sat in silence, Sanada clenching his hands in agitation not sure how to comfort Yumako. He had never expected to be in this kind of situation. Yes the five them were together, yes some people knew about it, but not many. Sanada could count on his hands the number of people who knew what went on in their house.
Hate crimes were not common in Japan, as homosexuality was dealt with in a quiet, non violent way. Mostly people were pressured to get married and have affairs on the side. Keigo and his family were estranged for that very reason. Sanada just did not understand but he knew that he had to be strong, especially for Fuji who would be ready to commit murder.
The door to the ICU opened and Sanada turned to see Keigo’s parents walk into the room. His blood turned cold. It was not going to be pretty when his lovers got to the hospital, but ever the dutiful Japanese man he stood with Yumako and bowed to the people who wanted to tear him away from his flamboyant lover.

Tezuka entered the ICU with a calm exterior but frantic eyes that scanned the room looking for four individuals, his eyes found one and he darted in the direction of his most reserved lover Sanada.
“Genichirou” he whispered, fighting the erg to hug his lover. He had seen Keigo’s parents and was not about to start something over a hug, it was not the place even though it was definitely the time.
“Mitsu,” Sanada said back in a shaky voice, staring into his lovers’ eyes, “they are still operating. I…don’t know anything else.” Tezuka stared into sad eyes and sighed.
“Yumako-san,” Tezuka said turning to give a wane smile, “how are you holding up?” Yumako gave a small smile in return but could not answer. “It will be alright” Tezuka tried to reassure the family friend and confidant.
Yumako only gave a small sob in reply. Tezuka sighed and wrapped an arm around her wishing he could do the same to his lover. Sanada was holding himself very stiffly, which was always an indicator that he needed physical contact.
Tezuka decided to damn the consequences and reached out to squeeze his lovers’ shoulder. Sanada tuned to him and his body relaxed. The clearing of a throat however made Sanada stiffen up again and the three turned to see Keigo’s parents staring at them in clear disdain.
“This is all your fault.” Keigo’s mother hissed, glaring through red eyes at the three. Tezuka narrowed his eyes and stepped slightly in front of Sanada in a blatant display of protectiveness.
“This is no one’s fault but the man that attacked Keigo. I know we do not get along but please for Keigo’s sake lets try,” Tezuka said trying to ease the tension in the room.
Keigo’s mother snorted and turned back to her husband, not at all forgiving. Tezuka sighed and ushered his lover and Yumako back to their seats. They sat in silence Yumako in the middle, a man on each side of her, each waiting for when their other two lovers arrived.

Ryoma and Fuji busted into the ICU worry etched on their faces. Fuji immediately went to Tezuka as Ryoma darted to Sanada. Fuji showed no restraint and threw his arms around his serious lover before leaning back to look into Tezuka’s eyes. Fuji was a firm believer he could tell everything emotionally about his lovers by looking into their eyes.
Ryoma showed no better restraint throwing himself at Sanada in an un Ryoma like fashion. “How… is he?” Ryoma asked, his voice muffled by Sanada’s shirt.
“He’s still in surgery,” answered Sanada knowing Ryoma hated things sugar coated. “Will he… be alright?” the youngest lover asked fear in his voice. Sanada did not answer merely sat Ryoma down and went to get him something to drink.
Fuji was the exact opposite of Ryoma, eyes wide open with one purpose in mind.
“Where is he?” Fuji hissed, “where is the bastard responsible for this?” Yumako stood up and cautiously walked over to Fuji.
“He was arrested.” Yumako whispered not liking the scary Fuji that occasionally came out to play.
“How convenient,” Fuji muttered and Tezuka decided he needed to reign his lover in before something bad happened.
“Fuji, calm yourself right now we need you not the man who did this.” Fuji blinked at that statement before he nodded all the while planning, he would not let the man get away with what he had done. Together the five sat down together and waited, Ryoma holding on to Yumako with Tezuka beside him, and Fuji on the other side being flanked by Sanada who would occasionally squeeze Fuji’s hand or caress his shoulder to make sure Fuji stayed with them and not in his mind. In silence they waited.
