Fuji watched his lovers parents through hooded eyes. They sat opposite the five, Atobe’s mother leaning on her husband, Atobe’s father staring at the ceiling, an angry look upon his face. Dark thoughts swirled through Fuji’s head, he was out for blood, someone had attacked his lover and justice, Fuji style, would be served.

Fuji turned to his left when he felt his lover Sanada intertwined their hands. “Fuji, focus” he whispered worry present in his voice. Fuji ignored the advice, instead he opened his eyes and gazed into Sanada’s begging him to understand that he could not let go of what had happened. They could lose their lover, the doctor had been in surgery for four hours and at any moment Keigo could die, Fuji would not be satisfied until the blood was paid back in full.

Fuji was aware his psychosis was fragile and slightly warped, had known since the time he was old enough to read that he was different than other people. He had a need for vengeance when those he loved were wronged, had first understood this the day a boy had pushed his younger brother in the play ground and Fuji had broken the boys arm, making it look like an accident.

Fuji knew he would not be able to move on until he acted and he could not properly act until he knew how Keigo was doing. So Fuji sat planning different scenarios for the different outcomes of Keigo’s attack. Fuji was thankful for his lovers grounding him, keeping him from picking a fight with the people he hated more than even his brother’s lover Mizuki, Keigo’s parents.

Fuji considered them vile people, he knew how homosexuality was viewed in Japan, they all did but they could not be without one another. Keigo’s parents had not been amused and had gone as far as to have him committed when he was in high school in hopes of curing him of his “problem.” The nightmares that Keigo had from that period haunted them all, and in Fuji’s way of thinking there was no forgiveness especially since they had done everything they could to undermine their sons happiness.

Keigo tried his best to be as carefree as possible wanting to enjoy life after working hard everyday to provide for the rest of them. Keigo’s parents were a thorn in their happy family’s side, always trying to pressure Keigo into marriage or belittling the accomplishments that Keigo had achieved on his own without the help of his parent’s money. Keigo, who was probably the best of them all, it drove Fuji mad, and abruptly Fuji stood up startling Keigo’s parents as well as Yumako.

Tezuka blinked as his lover stood up abruptly and after sharing a look with Sanada Tezuka stood up as well.

“Fuji,” Tezuka said coming to take his lover’s hand “let’s go get coffee for everyone.” Fuji shook his head no eyes hidden as to hide his thoughts but Tezuka would not be denied.

Turning to Keigo’s parents he asked, “ would either of you like anything from the cafeteria? Something to eat, something to drink?”

Tezuka frowned at the flinch that Fuji gave as Keigo’s parents turned towards them. He had forgotten how much Fuji disliked Keigo’s parents, out of all of the lovers Fuji despised Keigo’s parents the most, Ryoma usually ignored them and Sanada and he tried their best to be as courteous as possible.

Keigo’s parents glared at Tezuka and Fuji’s joined hands and Keigo’s father answered saying, “We want nothing your unclean hands touch.” Fuji stiffened at the words and opened his eyes, training them on Keigo’s parents.

Tezuka watched through worried eyes as his lover gave a twisted smirk and replied, “Really now? I was just thinking the same thing about your presence here.” Keigo’s mother gasped and his father turned red in the face.

“Leave now, and I promise not to hurt you, stay and I can’t really assure you’ll come to no harm. The only people that need to be here are those who love and support Keigo.” Fuji took a menacing step forward and everyone froze. Keigo’s mother gave a whimper of fright and his father’s eyes grew wide with fear.

They may not have liked the life that Keigo had chosen but they tried their best to stay apprised of what went on in their sons life. They both knew about Fuji and his almost profession as a cop. They had clashed before with the tensai, and the result then had not been pretty.

“Fuji!” Sanada’s sharp voice cut through the tension and fear, “calm yourself now.”

Tezuka knew he had a weak spot when it came to Fuji’s devious plots, usually they were well earned by the recipient, Tezuka did not out right supported his little lover but neither did he try to truly reign Fuji in when he became as he was now. Tezuka was very
thankful Sanada had no such qualms about keeping their lover on a tight leash.

Fuji turned twisted eyes toward his lover and Sanada stood his ground staring into turbulent blue, prepared to fight against whatever his lover had planned for Keigo’s parents. Fuji had been itching for the chance to hurt them the way they had hurt Keigo but now was neither the time nor the place.

“Ne, Fuji, mada mada desu ne.” Ryoma stepped up beside Sanada wanting to calm his lover as well as be on the planning committee when his lover struck. Ryoma usually ignored Keigo’s parents but that did not mean he did not harbor the same anger and resent that both Keigo and Fuji held.

Ryoma’s parents were by far the most easy going about the arrangement Ryoma had with his lovers. His father being the pervert that he was had even asked to watch them in action, something Keigo had found insulting.

Ryoma wanted nothing more than for Keigo parents to suffer but now they needed to band together in strength.

“I want milk, no coffee,” Ryoma announced trying to get Tezuka and Fuji back on track. Tezuka nodded relief in his eyes as he turned to Yumako.

“Water please,” she whispered muscles tense, eyes glued to Sanada and Fuji still having their staring match.

“I’ll take coffee, and I’ll have the nurse tranquilize you if you don’t behave Fuji.” Sanada said, turning to Tezuka to give him a small smile, proof that Fuji was under control. Fuji breathed in and out deeply, Ryoma could see the wheels turning in his head. No one moved until Fuji turned away from Sanada with a smirk and sneered at Keigo’s parents before walking out of the hallway.

Everyone let out a relieved breath and Tezuka nodded to Sanada before going after their irate lover. Ryoma flopped down on a chair, glancing at Keigo’s parents from under bangs. They sat opposite them, stiff as boards but worried Ryoma could tell that. Ryoma sighed, he hated waiting, hated not knowing what was going to happen to Keigo, wanted Fuji in his right mind again and for all of them to be safe in their house.

“Ne Sanada, can… you keep Fuji under control?” Ryoma glanced at his lover, while Yumako looked on curious.

Sanada sighed as he pinched his nose, “I’m not sure, there’s blood in his eyes, and vengeance in his smile, I will try but, Fuji gets what Fuji wants ne Ryoma?” Sanada gave Ryoma a small smile and Ryoma sank back against his chair in relief.

Ryoma, being the youngest worried the most out of all the lovers, he was never quite sure what his lovers thought when it came to the unique albeit unusual relationship they found themselves in.

Ryoma loved all of them dearly, they did put up with his somewhat detached personality. And Ryoma was not unsure of himself or his lovers feelings; he just felt he could not read his lovers as well as he would like to most of the time. Ryoma sat with Sanada on his left and Yumako on his right and prayed that Keigo would make it, he wasn’t sure how well the future would be for any of the lovers if he did not.

Tezuka watched his lover as they walked to the cafeteria with a critical eye. Fuji’s eyes were closed which meant Fuji was still not with them. I wasn’t so much that his eyes were closed, it was how they were closed, tight and scrunched, as if in battle. It meant that Fuji was still far away from them, and the other Fuji, the more demonic Fuji was in sight.

“Fuji…” Tezuka began and then stopped, what could he say to his lover, ‘don’t beat the stuffing out of the man that had attacked our lover? Please stay with us and not plan your revenge?’

It would be a waste of time and words. Just as in his tennis days, when it counted Fuji was a single focused organism with one thought in mind, destroy.

“Ne Mitsu, what do you think to some tennis practice once we have Keigo settled in the hospital?” Fuji asked his question with his twisted smile, eyes opening to stare imploringly into his lover’s eyes.

Tezuka blinked not understanding the question. “Tennis practice?” Tezuka questioned, Fuji hummed and continued, “like Jin use to play, it might be fun…” Tezuka shivered, and replied, “No, I’d rather not.”

Fuji gave a little pout, “to bad it might be fun and I suddenly feel the need to brush up on my tennis skills, maybe Ryoma will…” Tezuka stopped his lover, turning Fuji to face him completely.

“Fuji, you will not drag Ryoma into your revenge.”

Fuji raised an eyebrow, “ And if he wants to be in my plan for revenge?” Tezuka glared at his lover praying they were not about to fight but feeling he had to be strong. He rarely if ever denied Fuji, but Tezuka knew they needed to stay a unit, not fractured pieces of anger and hate.

Until they knew for sure Keigo was going to make it okay, there could be no stray sheep from the heard. “Fuji, focus, we will tranquilize you if you can’t focus, I don’t want to but you tried to pick a fight with Keigo’s parents, you threatened them, you need to focus.”

Fuji’s eyes went dark, “ I am focused, and I’d like to see you try and tranq me Mitsu. Do really think I’d let you do anything I didn’t want done to me done?”

Fuji began to circle Tezuka in the deserted hall, “silly Kunimitsu, you know and I know you can’t resist me, you can’t resist any of us.”

Fuji pressed up against Tezuka as he purred, “you’ll help me my love, because I know you want revenge too. We all do, I’m just the one messed up enough to pull it off.” Fuji gave a dark chuckle before turning and continuing to walk leaving behind a shaking Tezuka.

“Coming love?” Was the questioned that got Tezuka moving again and together they walked, Fuji planning blackmail in his mind, a lot of people owed him favors and it was time to cash in.

Sanada was almost asleep when a door opened and Yumako jumped to her feet. “Dr. Yamamoto!” She exclaimed, “how is Atobe-san?” The doctor looked tired, he eyes pinched and strained.

“Are you his family?” Dr. Yamamoto questioned looking at the four men standing next to Yumako.

“Yes, what’s the prognosis doctor?” Fuji answered for the group, wanting to skip the pleasantries.

Before the doctor could open his mouth Keigo’s parents stepped up clearly angry, “What is the meaning of this we are Keigo’s family, they are just, delinquents my son choose to associate with. ”

Yamamoto looked confused and checked the file, “it says here that in the event of Keigo being indisposed Sanada Genichirou has power of attorney and that Echizen Ryoma, Fuji, Syusuke, and Tezuka Kunimitsu are to know all pertinent information, are you any of these people?”

Keigo’s father turned red and he turned to the others, “what is the meaning of this?”

Sanada stepped forward, “This was Keigo’s wish, we will not keep information from you but, you need to know you have no rights to any knowledge.”

Keigo’s mother gasped in horror and his father turned red in the face. Fuji made a noise and everyone turned to look at him.

“Doctor, how is Keigo?” He asked calmly staring straight into the doctor’s eyes daring him to give them bad news. The doctor cleared his throat, uncomfortable with the dark stare.

“Keigo has come through the surgery fine, there was a lot of internal bleeding but we stopped it. He has two cracked ribs so his recovery will be very slow but he will make a full recovery.”

Ryoma swayed on his feet and Tezuka reached out to steady him as Fuji closed his eyes to hide the tears that were forming. Sanada closed his eyes trying to catch his breath and Tezuka nodded to the doctor in relief.

Their lover was safe, he had come through surgery and was going to be just fine. Yumako let out a sob and buried herself in Sanada’s arms. The five of them felt weak in the knees in relief that Atobe was going to be just fine.

Sanada still holding Yumako stepped forward and said, “thank you doctor for saving his life thank you.”

“Can we see him?” Ryoma asked, head down, voice strained.

The doctor glanced around the room and nodded, “Only for a few minutes, he’s not in the ICU but he still needs to rest. He’ll be out of it because of the anesthesia so be prepared.”

The five nodded and Fuji followed the doctor the other trailing behind him. The five entered the room, Sanada asking Keigo’s parents to wait a few minutes before seeing their son, and Fuji could not stop the whimper he let out.

There lay Atobe, pale as snow hooked up to different machines. Atobe woke to the sound of Fuji’s distress not sure where he was or why he felt so groggy. He looked to his left to find what looked like an I.v. and a ventilator. He looked to his right to see his lovers and Yumako all looking as if he had died.

They all had tears in their eyes but for the life of him Atobe could not figure out why. He tried to lift his head only to groan, it was so heavy, his entire body was heavy, and he felt nauseous. Atobe tried to raise his hand, not wanting to see his lovers looking so distressed but could only move it a little off the bed.

“Shh, don’t move just relax love” Fuji said taking Atobe’s hand in his, “it’s okay, you look tired love go back to sleep we’re here and we love you.”

Atobe watched through hooded eyes as his lovers nodded their heads in agreement with Fuji’s statement and Atobe allowed himself to drift, knowing his lovers were all well and with him.
