What kills me is the notion that people deserve respect due to age, as if managing to eat, drink, breathe, and not die--eking by--merit reward. I had thought accomplishment was harder... and just because someone has 'more experience' doesn't mean they've learned anything from it, even if it was relevant (and most of life isn't 'relevant experience'--how many times out of the day do these people manage a mortgage or plan investments, for instance? More time is spent drinking and sleeping, I'm sure.), and certainly doesn't imply that they've learned enough to be considered the sort of experts they seem to think they are!

Also, hell, our generation's barely gotten to make wise decisions in its own interests, much less in others'--we can't take care of ourselves, how could we yet support anyone else?
