HAHA IT DEPENDS sometimes they are (like yesterday when I asked this lady what the free sample was and she was like AH YOU SPEAK JAPANESE) but oftentimes they like...continue to try to speak to me in english...even though I am speaking japanese to them...it is really weird

I think gaijin being able to speak japanese is rare enough that some have difficulty processing it when it does actually happen
