Because I know you need new music, and because my package to you is criminally overdue, you get THREE songs!
Asobi Seksu - Thursday I know you like shoegaze (right? right?), and I know you like Japan. I also know you'll figure out what the name of their band means...
Digitalism - Pogo You need tunes to bounce around to in headtripping joy. Not quite the ambience electro I had in mind to recommend when you mentioned it, but, hey.
David Vandervelde - Can't See Your Face No More An obscene interest in quirky gentlemen is what keeps our friendship going, amirite?
I feel so awesome with three whole songs!doingfirstFebruary 9 2008, 09:52:44 UTC
What, playful sex? hur hur hur! I can't get anything to download on my craptastic net tonight, but I'll internet cafe it up tomorrow!
Omgosh, if you like Digitalism, do you like Kavinsky??? They are like, old school electronica. Testarossa Overdrive is the song everybody stole the music to in the nineties I swear.
I'm excited for Mr. Vandervelde. If he sounds as hardcore apathetically cool as Mr. Crook, I will cry with sheer joy.
You have such unusual taste, I fear I'll stuff it up! Nonetheless...
Sticking to the British scene, where I sort of know where I stand: Half Man Half Biscuit - Four Skinny Indie Kids If you couldn't tell by the name of the song, these guys like to pay out the music scene. I was tossing up between this song and 'Joy Division Oven Gloves' - I may end up uploading it for you anyway, it's that awesome.
And also, you will probably deem it generic Britpop sludge but I really like the album from which this is lifted: GoodBooks - Leni They do cool stuff with electronic keyboard...ish, I think? stuff. It's not your typical indie rock fare. Also, the lead singer looks like Harry Potter, no seriously. Once more I should have chosen another song - if you can find their stuff, try Turn It Back and Walk With Me.
I'm staring at three blank Word documents, trying to get stuff written for a 9am Monday morning interview. Whoever said being an editor of a magazine/newspaper is glamorous and exciting lied extremely.
Also, I had tinglings of 'enjoyment' while listening to Leni! I'll definitely follow that one up. To be honest, Britpop fails to make me want to listen to it on any level, but this was entertaining enough - maybe I'm just not inured to the motions? Doesn't really matter, does it? Not really.
(I've written you a Sweeney Todd review. I'm going to pass it on to my mum though, and see if she has anything to add before i hand it over but. Am starting one on Juno and might do one on Darjeeling Limited. :P)
Thanks! I'm not sure if they'll still be current by the time we go to print, though... hopefully we can get media screening passes so our reviews match up with film release dates. Still, thanks...
With reviewing movies, maybe you could also add in a few old ones because there are a lot of really classic older movies that people might have missed.

There's a self-titled advance on the LJ comms by Lupen Crook & The Murderbirds, but I don't think it's the same thing...

I've done it sort of like summer in review kinda thing. So if you missed it, here's what you should go see immediately/rent on dvd.
