What do you guys think of breastfeeding in public? Not showy, look at me breastfeeding, which dosen't really exist anyway, since its always fufilling a need, but the baby is hungry, screaming, crying, there is no bathroom around, hes not on any formula, breastfeeding in public

I think its only really offensive when the woman in question has one of those "I can do what I want where I want when I want" attitudes and whips it out in the middle of a mall or somewhere that has a lot of foot traffic. If its somewhere off to the side its not a big deal... to me at least.

I think breastfeeding in public is fine. I don't know why it's even an issue. If anything I think it's kind of nice to see, but what I mean is, if a baby's hungry he should be fed. End of story. Fiona I think you should just go for it. A lady was nursing her kid on the stoop the other day and no one paid any attention to it whatsoever. Congrats on being a mom by the way.

Fuck all of you with your "I'm only offended if it's in-your-face" bullshit. Babies should be breast-fed on demand. Period. Every single scientific study on the subject confirms it. And I am FAR from being one of those hippie-chick granola nazis, so don't even start with me about it.

Your responsibility is to the kid in question, who at least for the first year of his life, should be held, fed, squeezed, kissed, slept with and fed some more every single time he asks. Your job is to get that child out of the house with a decent amount of self-esteem and the equipment to take care of himself. It starts from the beginning.

I'm gonna try to say this without getting massively flamed, but--I think breastfeeding, like any other process in which something is excreted from the body, should best be done in private.
