[Fanfic] Thailand x Taiwan

Mar 27, 2010 04:26

Thailand wiped his glasses, before putting them back on to get a better look at the girl in front of her, who’s checking out different kind of watches. He sighed.

“Well, come on already. Just get him something, anything will do,”

Taiwan turned her head to look at Thailand, looking a bit annoyed at the unwanted distraction. “Sheesh, just hold on a bit, okay? You know it’s for him, so I must be sure that Japan will like it.”

Not wanting to turn this into an argument, Thailand chose not to debate against her. He was really surprised when Taiwan called him this morning, asking him to go with her. Although a bit embarrassing, Thailand had hoped that this is a date, but he quickly gave up his hope when he saw the reminder on his cellphone for tomorrow: February 11th - Japan’s Birthday.

So here he is, stuck in the mall, which coincidentally is full of young people, browsing Valentine’s Day gift for their lover. It’s been -what, 5 hours? No, 6 hours- since they arrived at this mall. He has bought an artbook of a videogame that he knows Japan is currently obsessing about. And, when Taiwan’s not looking, he-

Carefully, his hands moved to his shirt’s pocket, even though he knows that it’s still there. It’s pretty, with a well-sculpted pink diamond. A bit expensive, maybe but…

“Oh no, this won’t do! Let’s go look somewhere else!”

The girl’s voice startled him. She has looked in dozens of stores, but she hasn’t found the perfect prize for Japan. Well, here we go again, he thought.

It’s already dark outside.

At first, neither of them talked. Thailand has his eyes focused on the road ahead, while Taiwan keep looking outside from the passenger’s seat. Maybe she doesn’t want anyone to see her tears.

Thailand sighed yet again. It’s hard to deal with rejections, he knows. And it’s such a mood killer. Maybe it was a bad idea after all, the talk with Japan, but he’s desperate.

So Thailand stopped his car in front of a public park, dimly lit by the surrounding lampposts. It’s a beautiful one, with a fountain on the center, and well cared rose bushes. No one was there but them.

He takes another look at Taiwan, who looks rather puzzled at the reason why they stopped here, of all place. Thailand gave her a weak smile and suggested, “You need some fresh air, let’s take a walk outside.”

It worked.

Now they are walking around the park, still in silence. It’s awkward, but Thailand guess he has to spit it out now or never. “Uh…Taiwan. There’s something I want to give to you.”

“…I know this is a bit sudden, but….”

The pink diamond reflected the lights from outside. It looks so beautiful around Taiwan’s ring finger. Thailand smiled, and put his attention back to the cabinet, still looking for the matches, or a lighter.

They’re on his room. He has prepared the dinner in case Taiwan agreed to his proposal. Actually, he has prepared it all day, and he would have been really disappointed if Taiwan rejected him, but everything’s going to his plan…Well, except for those damn matches. He knows they’re around here somewhere.

A candlelight dinner might sound cliché, but he knows Taiwan really likes classic romantic things like this. And-ah, here they are. Thailand turned to look at Taiwan and apologetically said, “Sorry about that. I’ve found the matches!”

Hmm? Did Taiwan just touched his wine glass?

But whatever, she simply looks happy, although there’s something a bit weird about her smile, probably because she’s a bit tired after the party at Japan’s house.

Now, time to uncork the wine bottle….

Hmph…what a fool…

Japan told her about Thailand’s blackmailing. They agreed to make it look like that he has rejected her…It was a foolish plan of Thailand to told Japan all about his plan to propose to Taiwan.

It was too easy…far too easy. This is not some kind of sick TV drama, where the rejected girl will easily accept the other guy who shown his love to her…Japan’s plan was simple, yet effective. The polices won’t ever noticed the poison and this case would probably ends up unsolved.

Japan has arranged for everything. The witnesses will gladly say that they see Taiwan with Japan all night long. And even some thugs to burn down Thailand’s house and car.

Taiwan happily skipped her way out of Thailand’s house, being careful not to leave any trace, just in case. She stopped for a while on front of the house, admiring her new ring…

Should she sell it on eBay or some black market?
