When exactly, I ask you, did I end up with a full stable of characters again? Anyway, I’ve got a new one so this infopost is guaranteed at least 20% not gratuitous.
(And I love that both Merrill and Anders' character arcs can be summed up as, 'they were awesome! And then they trusted a demon and it didn't go well, oops.' )
Which is why I always just kind of shake my head and go "Oh, children," whenever they start bickering about it. Not to say that it isn't a fascinating argument, but it's TERRIBLE CHOICES ALL AROUND HERE.
. . . and yet here I am, going with the mage ending every time.
I played the Templar ending once just to see what it was like and felt dirty. Mage life all the way.
Also, I think Merrill comes out the winner of that argument because a)she manages to make her points without insulting Anders' culture and b)SHE DIDN'T BLOW UP A CHANTRY DAMMIT ANDERS. (She occasionally gets her village slaughtered, but in these games that practically makes you an innocent.)
Wow, relative guilt and innocence in these games is kind of disturbing, isn't it? (I did have to fight the entire clan the first time and I was SO UPSET FOR DAYS.)
I do kind of love that they can just get into these vicious arguments about magic and then someone brings up a cute fluffy animal and the entire thing can just get derailed.
