Going from lovely tiny pointy knitpicks needled to stumpy slippery addis with a determined extra loop in the cable is making me weep tears of frustration. Add cables in dark yarn, and it's just recipe for tossed projects ( Read more... )

Want to split a KnitPicks order? I feel your pain.

*tempted* Oh, but wait. That'd be Options, which I can't order just yet (no point in ordering just one right now when I'll be ordering a whole set in a little over a month). :/ Stupid fiscal responsibility. Why I do this to me?

Is there any reason a spare pair of tips in a commonly-used size, and a spare cord, would be rendered useless upon the delivery of Options set?

(Enabler is me!)

Temptress!! Taking advantage of a bit of weakness!

I'm going to keep at it tonight and see if I adjust to the difference (after all, I'll still have the addi once I get the options, so that'd be 3 needles that size). If you're wanting to place the order before I decide, then I guess that's just my tough luck.

Addi cables are nice and flexible, and the join is much smoother than most circular needles. However, the tips are blunt. Some knitters call them "stumpos" instead of turbos.

The socks I'm taunting you with were knit on Harmony circulars. It was a bit of an adjustment for me: I was terrified I'd snap the needle in half, a concern that would be lessened in thicker needles (these were 2.25mm [I can't keep the US sizes straight in my head]). The cable is super flexible, even more than the Addi.

I haven't used any of the interchangeable needles, but my experience so far has me optimistic. (The only time I grumble about not living in the US is when the "free shipping over $x" is US only. *pout* Stupid Knitpicks!)

Heh, as tempting as your offer is, I'm a little too attached to my home.

I was going to get the metal interchangeables until a friend mentioned that nickel (iirc) is hard on the joints. Since my hands are my living and other joints are already showing wear, I changed that plan. ^_^
