Jessica's room at the Arms, Tuesday late afternoon

Mar 17, 2015 13:15

It had been a good day. While she wasn't feeling great, Jessica was feeling better. She didn't have the energy she did a week ago, but that could be masked with coffee for now and her injuries were healing. Even better, Peter called her and let her know that due to some kind of time weirdness, the war with the Inheritors was already over. The ( Read more... )

So thanks to a combination of training-the-stupid-scrawny-kid and Jedi business, Atton had completely failed to notice what had happened last weekend. When it happened, anyway.

Yesterday, as he browsed the radio, he'd found out. But he hadn't followed up on it, because, well, he wasn't the kind of guy who made social calls. Or checked up on people. Least of all ex-roommates who he wasn't BFF-y with but who were, most definitely, best friends with Sia.

On Tuesday, he'd woken up and realized that maybe he was being kind of an idiot. (Yeah, yeah, it was a post-Ides of March miracle, blah blah.)

Anyway, the upside of having Force powers was that he knew exactly which door at the Arms to knock on. The downside was being aware this was shitty timing pretty much the moment his knuckles hit the door.

Ah, well. Stupid luck was kind of his signature thing anyway.

Company. Jessica wasn't sure if that was a good thing or the worst thing right now. Either way, she checked the peephole before opening the door. "Hey, Atton," Jessica said. "You picked a weird day to stop by, just so you know."

The bruises on her face were still visible, but they were healing. The fact that she was in her costume would probably draw more attention than that, though. It's not like she had time to pack before coming to Fandom.

Atton held his hands up quickly.

"I can leave," he said. "I just wanted to check on you. Just heard everything... or at least whatever made it to the squirrels." Beat. "Nice outfit."

"I packed light when I came here. And you're fine. I can probably use human contact with somebody who doesn't work for customer service," Jessica said. "I think I'd rather fight another battle for the sake of reality than deal with being put on hold again."

Minako hadn't gotten to see Jess during the whole... everything over the weekend. But once she heard her senpai was still around, well, there wasn't really a good reason not to go see her.

So there was a Minako knocking on her door, with a an extra-large box of pizza balanced on one hand and some sodas tucked under her arm. "Uh, Jessica-san? It's Minako and I have food?"

Food would probably be a good idea. It wasn't as though Jessica wasn't going to answer the door without that extra lure, but it didn't hurt!

"I'm not actually sure how everyone knows what room I'm in," Jessica said after opening the door. "But I'm not complaining. Hey, Minako. Come in." Congrats, Minako. Now you also got to see Jessica in costume without her mask on. She did not have other clothes with her right now.

"I offered a squirrel a soda," she explained, matter-of-factly. "When that failed, I asked the front desk."

What? Minako was blonde, not dumb.

The costume was gonna get a blink of surprise, though. "Uh, is this a bad time? Were you on your way out to fight more evil? I mean, I really hope we got them all, but we can put the pizza in the fridge if you need to patrol now."

"No, this is my casual wear right now," Jessica said, motioning toward the desk so Minako wouldn't have to just hold the pizza the whole time. "It's what I came here in and I've spent the past couple days resting and healing up, so I'm kind of stuck in terms of clothes until I can get something new tomorrow."
