It took a moment for Pepper to come to the door. And then more time for her to peer out of the from the peephole. And then she was rushing through the locks to open the door. "Jessica?"

Whispering clearly helped.

"Hey, Pepper," Jessica said. "I was in the neighborhood. Thought I'd stop by. Say hi. Mind if I come in?"

"You were in the neighborhood," Pepper repeated slowly, looking past her to make sure the hallway didn't have anyone else in it before letting her into the apartment. "Did you come with... anyone?"

"No, but I am here on a specific someone's behalf. He thought that a non-entity in this world with bad-ass spy skills would have an easier time getting to you than he would," Jessica said as she stepped inside. "For the record, surveillance guys on the ground are out for a few minutes, I have a radio jammer on around me, and I couldn't track down anything else that might be watching."
