Didn't I see that they were making a purple Animated Shockwave?

That would be cool, in that I would insist on referring to grey Shockwave as Shackwave.

I vaguely recall something about that. Some store exclusive, maybe? Anyway, it would be nice to have separate Shockwave and Longarm figures, too.

Therein lies the problem with continual shout-outs and homages - you end up running out of nostalgia.

I thought long and hard about my usage of the word "slavish," and I went ahead and used it anyway.

Seriously, though, yeah. I generally prefer a series to have its own identity, and despite the rampant homagemongering , Animated actually does, and it's not just chins and boots, awesome though those are. (Classics, of course, gets a complete pass on this, since it's solely a nostalgia/homage line. A trifle bipolar, yes, what with the stark contrast between the new molds and redecoes and all, but still.)
