2006 = A Year Of Bad Luck?

Jan 23, 2006 20:49

This year has not proven to be very good for me so far. Case in point... tonight I got into a car accident. It snowed all day long here in Maine/NH, and on the way home, (only about 20 minutes away from home, mind you) I hit a slushy section of road. My rear tires start to slide off to the left of the road, catch the loose snow, and my car is ( Read more... )

Family means a lot more to me than a car... that is for sure! (Yes that means you Pooh, and Caitlin without a doubt!)

I am so sorry about the accident. I wish you better luck for the rest of 2006.
I did the same thing once in NH during a wet snowstorm. Except I did have a head on collision with a telephone pole going about 25mph. I was not wearing a seatbelt, my head hit the windshield and I totalled my car. That accident was the reason I now live in CA! Yes, it could have been worse.

It is amazing/scary how *little* force a car needs to be going to have so much damage done to it. That is why I am so happy that I didn't hit that pole head on. I've seen the crash tests they do on tv, and that is usually at 30mph, and the cars they show sustain a lot of damage, and the dummies don't fair so well sometimes. I am not afraid of driving in this weather, because I've done it for so long. Its just a fluke thing that happened. It will only make me a better driver. What I should have done was take all the main roads home, instead of the backroads, because they are kept up much better than the backroads. It takes a little longer, but its well worth it.
