I could be wrong (and I don't have the books to hand since I'm at work waiting for uploads to finish), but isn't that in "The Fiery Cross," describing the much-injured Roger holding Jem? And then Brianna draws them?
That could be it. It could be after Roger was hung, or after Jamie gave him a sword lesson and knocked his thumbnail off. Both would be in The Fiery Cross.
The first thing that came to me was at a party in FC I think, where people are collapsing around the barn and all the Frasers are scattered around with all the kids.
But then I remembered the scene, I think it was in Dragonfly, where they're roasting the first potato harvest and Young Jamie falls asleep in Claire's arms or something. Or maybe it's not the potatoes, but some other scene in Outlander...
And then, of course, there's the post hanging from above where Roger's arm sneaks up around Jemmy to hold him to him.
It's at the very end of Drums of Autumn (last couple of pages), at the Gathering. Claire is holding Jem...
"I sat quietly, enjoying the feel of the limp, heavy little body in my arms. He slept with the abandonment of total trust, tiny pink mouth half open, his breath warm and humin on the slope of my breast."
