I think you are being entirely too optimistic when i see the fireworks and the flag waving, I remember how a country is slowly creeping away from the freedom of speech and religion. I think About a country that can go to war at the drop of the wrong hat. I think About a country filled with people (me being one of them) that have given up on the political process because its too hard to make a change stick. I think About a country who's people work most of their lives to pay off their debts. I think about a country who doesn't respect its police force because it thinks that its police force isn't there to protect and serve, but rather to protect those with money and harass those without. And how much longer till "Separation of church and state" is removed entirely to be replaced with "God fearing Americans."
