He's an Alaskan Klee Kai. They were developed 30ish years ago using Alaskan and Siberian huskies, plus Schipperke and American Eskimo dogs to create a true mini husky. The biggest they get is around 17 inches at the shoulder and 20 pounds, although Casper will be lighter and shorter, probably around 15 pounds and the 13-14 inches he is now. :)
I have never seen a miniature husky before! He is absolutely gorgeous. The husky is the University of Washington mascot-- you should take him to Seattle, people would go crazy.
Crystal is beautiful too.
Where are you that there are fox kits just running around? I guess because I am in NYC that seems very exotic to me. All I ever see running wild are pigeons, squirrels, and giant rats.
People go crazy here! Klee kai are still a pretty rare breed, so we get stopped everywhere we go, even in cities where everyone usually ignores everyone else. "How old is that puppy? How big will he get? Where did you get him? What breed did you say he is? One of his eyes is blue and one is brown!"
I actually live in a small city (16,000 people), but there are a lot of coyotes outside the city, so they've driven the foxes into more populated areas. This family lives under a Subway restaurant downtown. Surprisingly, even though they're close to a busy road, the mom (shown here with my brother), dad and five kits are doing very well. They're too used to people (and dogs), though, so I worry about them.
