He is right - Greek science brought on the vehicle of Islam was the only real intellectual salvation of Europe. This is why is so sad to see the state of Islam today - it has, in many places, gone into its own dark ages. Between Wahabhism, the dramatic decline in literacy in the Arab world, and a strong anti-intellectual current in indigenous muslim scholarship - I really fear for the next century or two in Islam.
