I just re-did the layout of my LJ for the first time in YEARS. I remember when I used to change my layout every few months! I think I like the new layout, but it's hard to say. I'm always weirded out by them at first until I get used to it.

I don't normally follow or care about fandom wank, but today's wank is pretty spectacular. I think the main ( Read more... )

what does your header say omg? I get "the sky ----- falling'? is that right? I can't figure out what the missing word is and it's causing me great consternation. :X

I haven't been watching the US SYTYCD (though I think the screaming lady isn't on it this time round, yeah? which might mean I could actually stomach it) but that's so odd about Henry! I mean, I know auditionees from previous years have come back (and some of them made it through) but it is strange that someone who actually made it into a previous Top 10 would be allowed back. maybe it's because it's the US version and not the Aussie version he's trying out for? possibly it's a loophole he's exploiting.

ANYWAY. Henry's kinda hot, so he could totally exploit MY loophole. :X

also, the wank, ahahahaha. I emailed lily as soon as I read it, because it's like the fandom gods are SMILING UPON ME. :D

I think all it says is "the sky...falling". You can check out the original image here, along with a few others. Though if you can decipher that is says something else, PLEASE TELL ME.

Henry! It was so weird to see him out of context! And he didn't really get hot until he lost the mullet, no? So he might do better on the US version since he would be hot from the get-go. And yeah, he might be working a loophole there (that sounds dirty, hahah). Maybe there's nothing in the contracts that prevent them from trying out for the show in other countries.

The wank is just too, too hilarious. There is nothing more hypocritical or annoying than fanfic writers who demand you get their permission (and blessing, apparently) to write fanfic of their fanfic.

Today's wank was so full of 'wtf' and 'really?', that I'm still reeling.

I love your new layout and also just spent way too long trying to decipher the banner. I think that first word in the second line is perhaps an 'is'?

Today's wank was full of SPECTACULAR amounts of wtf. Ivorygates's reaction was so over the top and out of proportion to the "offense" that I've stopped trying to use sane person logic to figure it out. You'd think she was Anne Rice or something.

I've wondered about that possibility. Maybe it's like a Rorschach test!

SERIOUSLY. I can't understand how or why such fandom veterans would react like that. Hello, this is what we usually make fun of non-fandom folks for.

Haa, I wouldn't put it past the artist. (And then I went and checked his website/shop and the title of that particular work is The Sky is Falling, so perhaps it's all just decorative prettiness.

Ok, that line made me snort. Heh. Usually my brain hurts too much when I read about fandom wank, but I'm amusing myself with this one. Wow. She reaaaaally got her panties in a knot over that one, didn't she?

Also, Twilight slash? REALLY, Ads? Really?

Now, Glee fic I could maybe get behind. I love Puck! Put him with anyone and I'd probably read it.

On a only somewhat related unrelated note, I was up til 2am watching this YouTube playlist of a storyline edited from As The World Turns involving a young gay couple, Luke & Noah. (Yeah, I don't even know. I clicked on a link and suddenly I'm watching HOURS of awesome soapy gay goodness. I couldn't tear my eyes away. I don't even...) Anyway, the point to all of this is that it made me want to read fic about them. In a bad way. I've actually never gone searching for a new fandom on my own before and it makes me think of you because you're like my gateway drug to all fandoms. I wanted to go out and see if there was actually good fic in that fandom, but the first thing I thought was, "but Addie's not here to tell me what's worth reading!" Haha. I was amused.

DON'T JUDGE ME! Ha, impossible, I know. I only read two stories though, since there are only two finished stories in that entire fandom. Crikey.

Glee fic! Unfortunately that's another one of those fandoms where most fics are broken up into 30 chapters of 500 words. And UNFINISHED. God, I hate people who post WIPs.

the first thing I thought was, "but Addie's not here to tell me what's worth reading!"

Ha! I am your fic Svengali. Or sensai. Or something.

Wow. Yeah, that right there would be enough to scare me off. I'm down with long stories, but all unfinished? No thanks!

I would totally think that Glee fandom would be perfect for short fic! Why all these damn WIPs?? I mean, not everything has to be epic HS drama. Glee seems so perfect for little scenes, ficlets, short pieces, etc. I would never think that Glee would run mainly toward long, drawn out sappy WIPs. I mean, it's GLEE!

And you're totally my fic sensai. Totally.

Hahah! I just googled "luke & noah fic", clicked on one link, and the formatting was all crazy and weird and I immediately got scared and closed the window.

I think I really am just inept at finding my own fic. I need to be led to it like a thirsty horse led to a pond. A pond filled with grammatically correct, non-MarySue, mpreg-less, intelligent, witty fan-fiction. This is why I don't read fandom that you're not involved in. Man...I really am a sheep.

Jason and I are negotiating TV and I am ways behind of SYTYCD. WOE.

PS. I will ABSOLUTELY judge you and your Twilight slash! As a good friend should!

You have to get caught up on SYTYCD! They picked the top 10 last night and I need to discuss it with someone!

Twilight slash. That lasted about two stories. It's like the worst of Harry Potter fic in FF.net , only without any decent canon to back it up.

ALEX WONG! I'm so excited he's on the show. He'd better not get the "inscrutable Asian" edit though, where they always tell him he needs to work on his performance and passion and showing emotions on his face more. Remember how they did that to season 5's Asuka? I'M WATCHING YOU, NIGEL.
