Two Poems

Jan 20, 2010 13:21

Winter morning,
Keep writing, keep releasing
pain waits for no one

Huddled in my winter down,
knees burning, feet already tired
waiting for a delayed train,
losing patience,
frozen winds picking up speed,
knife-sharp on my worn out face,
I wonder,
Does the crow,
in his black nakedness
feel this ageing winter too?

Hi Claudia,

I am delighted to hear from you and to receive your enthusiasm and warm feelings regarding my ordination. No, I'm not becoming a monastic, but service is a priority. I will be ordained as a lay priest with authorization to perform rites, teach [as sensei] conduct dokusan. I have also been authorized to start a group that is affiliated with Udumbara Zen Center in Evanston, Il. where I am preparing for ordination under the guidance of Sojun Diane Martin Roshi, Abbot. She studied with Suzuki and Katigiri and is also a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst so I feel very much in excellent hands with Diane.

Here is a link to my Zen group:

In gassho and warm wishes
