Responses to three Yokshim prompts

Mar 01, 2009 01:03

I'm on a mission to force myself to write on command, so I pounded out three drabbles in response to three prompts posted on Yokshim. The prompts were:
-Keep Six, for exoxendo
-"Excuse me, do you have any spare quarters?", for norabose
-YB giving someone a lapdance, for patra86

I'm in a stupid mood. Consequently, the drabbles might not match up with what immediately comes to mind upon reading these prompts. 8D;; I hope they'll entertain you anyway.

Do Not Pass Go. Do Not Keep Six.

"So you really want to work with us?" YG asked hopefully. They really needed a songwriter.

Perry shrugged. "Yeah, I guess. Can I hear that Keep Six thing you were talking about?"

YG looked at Jinu, who shook his head minutely. "Umm. Well, you know, it was a bit rushed so I don't think it's really... representative..."

"And we didn't really have time to train them a lot," Jinu added helpfully. "But if you really wanna hear..." He looked at YG.

"Yyyes, I guess I'll just..." YG opened his bag and rummaged around for a moment. Wallet, mp3 player, headphones... He zipped it close again and looked up. "Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot my mp3 player. Do you have yours, Jinu?"

"Nnnn..." Jinu looked down at himself and apparently realized that his earphones were poking out of his pocket. "Um. Yeah, there it is. Haha. ... You sure you wanna hear, man?"

Perry blinked at them. "Yeah. C'mon, can't be that bad."

YG sighed and nodded to Jinu, who fiddled with his mp3 player for a few seconds, then handed it to Perry.

Perry visibly fought to keep his expression blank, but by the time he handed the player back, his eyes were twinkling as if he was trying very very hard not to laugh. "Okay. I gotta work with those guys?"

YG shared a look with Jinu again. "Um..."

"Nah, man, they left the label. We wanna focus on real hip-hop now. Right?" Jinu said, kicking him under the table.

"What? ... Oh. Yes. They left."

YG wasn't sure how he was going to announce that to Keep Six, but it would probably be better for everyone involved in the long run.

When Sight-Seeing Goes Wrong

"'Scuse me, you got any quarters?"

Dae Sung blinks curiously at the man who approached them. He has dirty blond hair, a scraggly beard and really filthy, baggy clothes. "What did he say?"

"Careful, maybe he's got a gun," Seung Ri says quietly.

Young Bae is already looking things up on his cellphone. "He said... oh, he wants coins."

"Ohhh." Dae Sung grins and rifles through his pockets, then drops some coins into the man's hand. "Look, Korea money~"

The man looks down, then flings the money back at Dae Sung. "Fuck you! I want American money!" He keeps ranting, moving closer until he's practically in Dae Sung's face. Dae Sung can't even recognize any of the words the man is using anymore, but he knows they're not very nice. His breath isn't very nice, either.

"... Sorry?" Dae Sung tries.

Jinu, Seung Hyun and Ji Yong emerge from the convenience store behind them. Dae Sung knows that because he hears Jinu say "What the hell?!", which he does recognize. It's good to know Jinu finds the man strange, too, because he was worried that throwing coins in people's face is an American custom he didn't know about.

The man looks at Jinu and finally walks away, still talking loudly.

"What happened?" Jinu asks.

"He wanted our money," Seung Ri says from behind Young Bae.

"So I gave him won. I thought it'd be more interesting," Dae Sung adds.

Jinu stares. "... You thought it'd be more interesting."

"Well, the pictures are prettier."

"... You're all staying riiiight next to me until we're back in Korea, okay?"

In Which Young Bae Jay Wook Saves The Day Again

"We need a vacation," Seung Hyun said, sprawled on the living room floor and apparently unable to move.

"Yes," Ji Yong agreed. "Somewhere nice and tropical. So I can get a tan and another tattoo."

Seung Ri sighed. "YG will never let us go on a trip, we're way too busy."

"Guam would be good," Ji Yong continued. "Don't we have studios there or something?"

Young Bae snorted and shook his head. Ji Yong was used to getting whatever he wanted from YG, but he was sure it wouldn't be so easy when it concerned Big Bang as a whole. "C'mon, forget it. He won't say yes."

"I bet he will if I ask," Ji Yong said, then stood up. "I'm gonna go do that."

"Don't get all pissy when he says no."

"He won't say no."

***

Ji Yong stomped back into the apartment, slammed the door behind himself and stalked through the living room.

"... What'd he say?" Young Bae asked without really needing to.

"I hate you," Ji Yong announced dramatically before disappearing into his bedroom, slamming that door too.

***

"There's gotta be a way we can go on vacation," Ji Yong muttered two days later, chewing on a fingernail as he looked out the window of the van.

Young Bae sighed. "You're still thinking about that?"

"Maybe it'll work if we do something nice for YG," Dae Sung suggested.

Ji Yong eyed him. "You mean like a bribe?"

"I mean like... a gift. What does he like?"

***

They hadn't been able to settle on just one thing, so the gift basket that Ji Yong had somehow put together was enormous and contained a variety of items, from fancy flavored coffee to bubble bath to expensive chocolate.

Ji Yong seemed especially smug as he headed to YG's office.

He was fuming when he came back.

Seung Ri groaned. "Did he like it, at l--"

"Don't talk to me."

***

"You!" Ji Yong said, suddenly pointing to Seung Ri. "You should text YG."

"... Why?"

"To be all grateful and cute and happy that you're working for him. And then ask for a vacation."

Seung Ri seemed to know better than to argue, because he took out his cellphone and started typing.

***

"It's been three days, I don't think he's gonna reply."

Ji Yong glared at Seung Ri as if YG's flakiness was very specifically his fault, then sighed loudly. "Fine, we'll find something else."

"I could, like, fall off something and hurt my ankle and not be able to dance for a couple of weeks," Seung Hyun suggested, smiling at the thought.

"Yeah, and then he'd send you off to Guam alone or something."

"... What if we all fall off something?" Dae Sung said.

***

They'd settled on moaning and groaning and complaining about exhaustion whenever they could, but other than annoying most of the staff, it hadn't accomplished much. Young Bae had lost hope long ago. Ji Yong, on the other hand, still obviously clung to the idea of going to Guam, and Young Bae didn't like to see him so discontent all the time.

There was nothing he could do, though. YG seemed to be determined to ignore the request. If Ji Yong couldn't convince him, no one else would be able to.

Unless...

"Jae Wook, can I ask you something?"

"Sure," Jae Wook replied distractedly as he stuffed his things back into his bag.

Young Bae tried to find a good way to phrase his question. Then gave up. "Can you do really sexy dances?"

Jae Wook looked up. "You mean like... sexy body waves and stuff?"

"No... Sexier."

"... Like a lap dance?"

Young Bae frowned. "What's a lap dance?"

Jae Wook visibly debated with himself for a moment. Young Bae wondered what the big deal was. "Uh, I guess you should sit down over there if you really want to know."

"Okay. Can you teach me after?"

Jae Wook chuckled. "Sure. If anyone ever asks, tell them it was Shaun."

***

Young Bae pushed Seung Hyun's legs out of the way and sat down on the couch. "Hi. We're going to Guam tomorrow."

Ji Yong leapt up from his chair. "NO WAY. What did you do?!"

Young Bae shrugged. "I just asked."

Seung Ri frowned. "We tried that about a million times and it never worked."

"Yeah! What the hell did you do, seriously?" Ji Yong repeated, giving Young Bae a shake.

Young Bae smiled a little and pushed Ji Yong back. "I'll tell you tomorrow."
