I'm back...sort of!

Sep 19, 2005 16:04

Hi all!

I've just arrived in Houston (temporary relocation of course, I will be returning home when the house is rebuilt) and finally, finally, finally have access to the internet. It has been a really long, surreal 23 days (And counting). I keep waiting for the fog to lift and my life to return to some sense of normalcy, and I think this move ( Read more... )

I'm thrilled to see you back online! These last 23 days must have been awful and I'm hoping you can have some sort of normalacy really soon. Let me know if I can help in anyway...

Thanks for the enthusiastic welcome back! I'm thinking that things will start to come around now that I'm going to be able to get back to work later this week. Funny, as much as I wanted a little break from work and was so ready for a vacation, these weeks away from work weren't what I had in mind!

Let me know if I can help in anyway...

Um, icons, fic?? I'm not proud and I'm not above using this as an opportunity to beg for stuff!

I'm working on fic... but it'll take me some time.
Icons? Any pictures in mind or any themes. I'm not the best icon maker, but I like to play around. Let me know.

Crash!

We've all been thinking about you a lot, and worrying over you, and just missing you hanging around. I'm so very glad to hear that you're OK, and that you guys are already thinking about the future and what comes next.

I know you're not home, but you're *here*, and that's kind of like a second (or third or fourth?) home, right? So, welcome back!

Hey! Yes, Ms. Much has done much to keep us informed. Are you going crazy? Have you stopped shaving? Do you have a grip on reality? Okay, did you ever? We DO miss you and have been thinking about you. How do you feel about the Houston situation? Do you have any timeline at all? Is there anything you need? Now that you're sort of back, you can just type it out!

I'm glad you and your family are safe. That is what's most important. So Iowa isn't looking attractive to you right now? Not quite there yet, huh? I'm guessing Houston is a city in transition. The upheaval must be tremendous. Just don't switch your sports teams. You must remain loyal. That's the first sign...

Cereally, let me know if I can help you!!!!!

Glad to "see" you!

Family was, and is, definitely foremost in my thoughts and I feel so very fortunate that everyone is accounted for and safe.

Houston seems to be a very welcoming community, but it just isn't home. I know, I need to give it a little time, but I'm hoping that I'll be returning to New Orleans before any real 'adjustment' sets in.

And it's LSU all the way! Geaux Tigers!

Rowr! As long as you still have your Tigers, all is not lost. As for your time in Houston, think of it as a hiatus of sorts. Junior year abroad flashbacks? They nearly speak another language! I know what you mean about it not being home, however. Hopefully, you'll find something or someone (Plural?) to make better than bearable. Just keep repeating that it isn't Nome. Winter is coming!

Of course I came to Florida after finishing grad school since one of those "reaffirming and cleansing" wildfires sent me packing from California. That was a decade ago.... But don't worry, I chose to stay. Okay, sometimes I wonder why!!!

Hang in there!

So happy to have you back, crash. I can't even imagine what this past month has been like for you, but it's good to know that your life is at least beginning to resemble itself again.

When you get a chance--and if you're inclined to relive it--do let us know what the whole experience was like. I know disasters tend to bring out either the best or worst in people, and I do hope you met many of the best.

Thanks so much for the 'welcome back'! I'm a little short on time (the Business Center closes in 10 minutes), but I do plan to write a little about this experience. And I've truly met some of the very best of folks and am extremely grateful to so many, old and new 'friends' alike.

More to come...

If you have any favorite pictures, let me know. I can't do anything real fancy ( I mainly use my Printshop and iPhoto since GIMP bewilders me), but it is fun to play around with pictures.
