Return to Civilization...or, you know, modern conveniences!

I’ve been cut off from the internet world for the past several weeks while spending time in New Orleans. Internet access was available, mainly at work and so not conducive to LJ browsing, and frankly I was a more than a bit preoccupied with the house to notice. But, I did miss the chatter of my LJ friends. Here’s my blanket apology for not ( Read more... )

I hope things work out well with the house.
And I love that you're working on BOI. I can't wait to see the chapter. (That is not a hint, just a statement of fact.)

The house is going slowly. We're still sifting through the rubbish, salvaging what we can. The actual rebuild is taking much longer than I would like. I just heard from the flooring guy that the floors could be installed...in January. January! And the cabinets? Will be delivered after Christmas.

So, maybe I should follow suit and say that BoI will be ready . . . in March. Nah, I'm not that cruel!

Yikes. That is slow, though I imagine there's quite a bit of demand in your area and therefore contractors are being pulled in many directions. Construction always has ups and downs. My brother is a contractor and sometimes things are out of his hands.
As for BOI, how about beta-ing as a distraction ;)

And if I had a place to live...I might be able to be more patient. But shuffling from family to friends and back, living out of the back of the car, is getting pretty old. So, does your brother have any work crews he'd like to loan me?

BoI? No better distraction!

Okay, what a cruel dilemma. I can't decide if I'm more excited by the crashcmb post or by the fact that there's another BoI chapter on the horizon.

I have nothing else good to say -- I just wanted to say hi! And to mention that I was thinking of you as the interviewed fellow cleaner-uppers in NO on NPR this morning.

Enjoy the luxury of your "own" bed for a few days -- along with the rights to the remote!

Wow! Excited by my post? That almost brings me to a Sally Fields 'You like me, you really like me!" moment. Thanks for the sentiments. As far as the BoI updates - way more exciting, trust me. Much outdoes herself.

Interesting to know about the NPR segment - I wasn't aware of it but may try to locate it. Those cleaner-uppers have done an incredible job, but 'm afraid they are not even close to being finished.

Solitude...and privacy...is bliss!

Hi, as everyone else good wishes as regards getting your home sorted. Here everything takes so long anyway when work needs doing I cannot imagine how hard it must be for you.

Thanks for the good wishes! I was initially so optomistic and hoping to be back in my house by Thanksgiving (next Thursday) but obviously that was naive of me. Now, I'm just hoping to be in before Mardi Gras (which is in February)!

P.S. - I love your beautiful icon - it's lovely.

Feb is positive, growing into the summer.
The icon is the younger daughter's feet, she took and manipulated the photo for her art course work last year. She is thrilled every time I tell her someone has commmented so you have made her day:)
