Hey! Happy Mardi Gras to you! I know all about the king cake now thanks to you. I told Much that I was in traffic behind a big 1-800-toilets truck over the weekend and I thought of, ready for it? YOU! Thrilled? Flattered? Honored? Disgusted?
So you were traveling to a place with real walls and actual modern indoor plumbing that didn't provide an indoor moat, huh? Now it's home to supervise renovations to the palace? Did the trailer miss you? Stay away from the pork rinds and grits! Not a good combo.
Relatively comfy leaves room for improvement, but I admire your Pollyana attitude. I hear Brownie is going public with the finger pointing. Wuss.
It's amazing what a bottle of champagne can do to help the attitude out. One last blow-out before Lent.
You should see the satire going on down here - today's festivities are the culmination of our ability to make fun of virtually any tragedy. And, as you might suspect, the whole Katrina situation is great fodder.
April doesn't sound too far away I'm almost afraid to throw April out there since I've been thinking I would be in my house by...Thanksgiving...then Christmas...then New Year's. I'm not so good with judging the speed (or lack of) progress, but I'm really getting close.
From the pics you posted it seems like you had quite a bit of damage. So I'm hoping that it'll be April. I'm still picturing New Orleans as a ghost town. It'll be interesting to see it in June.
Sorry I missed this post in the week. Good to hear from you. April will be here in no time, says she sitting with a quilt over her knees, eyeing up the snow in the garden, it's melting, I hope!
April started. So how is the house re-building going? Will you be able to move back in this month? I really hope so. We don't get any official news here anymore from New Orleans (as usual - the public eye forgets about events like this way to soon)
So nice of you to check up on me! You have no idea how much it meant to see you're comment in my Inbox. Thanks - and I've added a new LJ entry with a quickie update, but I am actually able to sleep in the house now! I know it may not sound very exciting, but trust me - it's a huge deal. I've still got a ways to go on the house, but it really is starting to look like my house again.
The rest of the city is in the same boat - very, very slow progress, but at least it is progress.

Tired hand. Take care!
