I need everyone's opinion on this: I have two major projects I worked on that were never published or released (a 14-pg comic that was to be a part of an anthology, and a website background). I have all the raw files for them as well. My question is, can I put unpublished work on my resume? It would be nice if I could because I don't have many ( Read more... )

Post it online or do a self-published run. Then there are no qualms whatsoever!

I don't think there's anything wrong with mentioning that you've done them, or waiting and including them in your portfolio when you send that out. I have "Wrote 400 page novel" on my resume.

Yeah I would just self-publish the work and then list it that way. Another thing to consider for commissions and partial projects (like just doing the background of a site) is to just list the clients. Especially for jobs where you are also sending a portfolio, an employer doesn't really need to know for whom you did what work.

Are they unpublished because the projects were killed or because your works were not accepted? If the projects never came to fruition then you can include them on your resume, but if your work wasn't accepted for publication then you'll need to publish it elsewhere before you put it on your resume.
