I'm so sorry about your friend. It's very hard to weather an environment like the one she grew up in, and I'm sorry that in the end, she did not feel able. So very sad.

Very sorry for the loss of such a dear friend. I love all the details that you included about her in here - such as being annoyed if you spelled her name with an 'h' or the bit about Peach & Mario. I hope that writing about it was able to give you a small bit of comfort. So heart breaking.

The 'h' is one of the things I remember most. Our teacher would always spell it with an 'h' and drove her crazy.
