I can save money and not have to worry about moving to another country now!
Most of the happiness and thrill I felt when Obama gave his speech is gone, however.
Thanks, Facebook. If you really want to get angry, I suggest you check out the wall for the group "If Obama wins I'm wearing all black on Wednesday." Shit kills me. These people think that 'spreading the wealth' is taking the hard earned money from all the rich people (cause zomg Paris Hilton works SO hard, amirite) and is going to give it to poor people who will use it to buy TVs, shitty framed pictures, bobbleheads, and shit for their free apartments. ...Eh? I also really love the people that are crying that now we have a Socialist for president. Hey - newsflash. You know when you send a piece of mail through the postal system? That's socialism. OH GOD NO WAI MAI EYEZ!!!!11
What the fuck is wrong with socialism? Finland's doing pretty well. Did Eastern Europe do well? No, but they had a completely different set of problems coupled with socialism.
I wish I could sit all these people down in a room and reason with them. Deciding not to ban partial birth abortions isn't because he loves killing babies and hates the sanctity of life. Wanting to cut taxes for the middle class so single moms don't have to work 6 jobs and can actually see their kids isn't going to suddenly stifle the economy.
Like, do people really not realize that the American dream is not that easily attainable? Yeah, a few people work their way up from dirt and finally lead comfortable cushy lives in the OC, but for the most part, the kids that are born in the South side of Chicago stay in the South side of Chicago - not because they want to (would anyone really choose to live in a ghetto if they had a choice?), but because the system is so biased that they can't. Sure, there are public schools, but they're underfunded, the teachers are overwhelmed, and the materials are usually outdated. And we wonder why most inner city kids don't finish high school? If the parents could, I'm sure they'd like for their kids to be put in a nice private school where they get to wear cute little uniforms and are instilled with the knowledge that will let them get into Ivy League schools easily. But it just doesn't work like that.
You have to give people a little slack.
What's so wrong with helping each other? Isn't that a Christian moral? Aren't we a self proclaimed Christian country? I don't get why so many people are so hypocritical with what they say.
UGH.
Well at least I feel better now! That warm fuzzy feeling I got when he addressed us as the President elect is back.
It's pretty awesome that the first election I actually got to be a part of was the one where we elected in the first black president. It gives me a little more faith in this country, and I can't wait to see what the next 4 years bring.
GOBAMA!
