I'm so glad to see you! Was worried. We sat here watching the local news and seeing the live cameras in Orlando, and I kept saying oh no, oh no Ree!

Thank God you are OK! Love ya! *hugs*

Ditto on the love & hugs babe! Still a crappy situation for a lot of people, our pals in Winter Park, and Deltona still don't have power, no ice and no water. Roads are finally clearing up around here, but people are kind of freaking over being able to find gas, what few stations are open are out.

I guess I'm pretty lucky to have got power back so quickly, perks of living in town close to businesses I guess.

Very very happy that you survived with no deadly effects! Of course, the damage that was done does sound pretty nasty but I'm glad you're safe dear.

*hugs*

Storms are scary.

They sure can be, but I don't think this one ever scared me. Actually, I don't think one has ever scared me, but then I've never suffered a loss from one personally. Material things sure, but those are always replaceable. *hugs sweetie*

Glad to hear you are okay.

Man what a thrill that must have been ... the biggest I have been through was a Cat3 Cyclone(that's what we call them in Oz) ... I love storms ... it's quite awe inspiring watching the fury of nature.

You're from Oz, cool! I didn't know that Koly. I should probably know the difference but I don't, isn't a cyclone like a big ass tornado?

Same here, in complete awe. And respectful of the power of the storms too, truly they aren't anything to play with, but it's still cool the bonding between neighbors before, during and after the spectacle. Helps alot when you do end up suffering material loss, just reminds you people are what is most important.

A cyclone is like a hurricane. I have lived through a few when I was younger and lived in Northern Queensland. We also had our house fucked up by a freak storm that that had a small tornado, it took our roof and all of our bird aviaries with it. A piccy of my bird aviary was in the paper, it was wrapped around some power lines near the local train station. I lost most of my birds though, the wind was too strong for them to get off the ground and the rain drowned them.

Ahhh! I see now. Thanks for explaining that! So sorry about your birds. *hugs* Do you still keep an aviary?

I've wondered how the wildlife fairs here through things like this, we have the most stunning animals, particularly birds. There is so much in the news about how people weathered things, but I haven't heard a peep about the impact on natural population.

Hey I was reading that you've been ill sweetie, here's hoping you feel much better! <3<3<3

Just wanted to stop by quickly and say I'm glad to hear everything is fine and you seemed to have weathered the storm well enough.

I also actually like storms - I think they're cool - but I've never had firsthand experience with a hurricane or tornado and I'm sure that would give me a totally different perspective.

Hey there Loth! How's it going? How's your search engine project coming along?

Yeah, we all in restorative mode down here, but reasonably doing alright otherwise. Amazing how much time it takes to clean up and repair though. It feels like we've just barely made a dent in things.

Good to *se*e you! lol <3

Hey <3 I've been busy, and on vacation, and stuff like that. School starts soon and I just want to die. Where did summer go?

The project is coming along. You can finally search (the first result is one of my fav fics). So yeah, I'm getting there ^_^ There would be at least three times the number of stories (currently 1353) if fellow_shippers were to let me/us index them. Maybe I should ask one of the mods?

Is there like, hurricane insurance? If so, does it cover stuff like your roof damage?

Wow, I know, the year is flying right on by us too. Not so much weather wise since it isn't much different year around here, but it just doesn't seem that long away that we will be dragging out the winter holiday decorations again.

Awesome! I'm over there now checking it out and reading. Woohoo! lol I love this thing. Great job! Sure, there is an email addy up in the fellow_shippers user info. I can't see why it would be a problem to be indexed, just brings in more readers which is a good thing.

Yes, insurance covers those sorts of things, the hardest part is just getting the ball rolling and doing damage control in the mean time. It is so much better if you can get a check cut right away rather than waiting on reimbursements. Renters insurance is must have here too, a lot of 2nd floor people had to have beds and electronics replaced.
