Just checked my facebook feed and saw that my cousin had already given birth to her beautiful baby girl! Another great piece of news. Here's hoping the rest of 2014 continues to go well.
A couple of days ago, I had a very scary dream. And by scary, I mean the horror movie type variety. I rarely get nightmares nowadays, or if I do get them, I rarely remember them. But this one really scared the crap out of me. I dreamt of a creepy lady in black who was trying to prevent me from leaving a house. She was literally in front of the door and she was saying such creepy stuff which I can't quite remember. Now a lady in black isn't necessarily scary but when I was younger, my siblings and I watched a "Halloween" edition of a news program that features 'real life' stories of people seeing/meeting ghosts and supernatural beings. One of the stories featured a lady in black who was haunting a school and a student. In hindsight, my uncle (who was looking after us that time) shouldn't have let us watch that show. It kept me and my sister up for weeks and to this day, I would have nightmares of ladies in black. UGH!!!
So its only been a week since the return of fall tv shows and I've seen a couple of new ones that I am definitely going to continue watching. I was quite happy that Gotham was pretty good. Definitely a keeper. So was How to Get Away with Murder. It looks like this will be the first Shonda Rhimes show that I will be keeping my eye on. It helps that Alfred Enoch is so pretty, lol! To be fair though, he had a passable American accent. And of course, Viola Davis is amazing.
On the other hand, I think I'm going to stop watching Once Upon a Time. As much as I liked the introduction of Elsa and Anna, I think its about time I let go (heh, I made a punny) of this show. It just keeps repeating itself when it comes to Regina. And tbh, I am not a big fan of the Captain Swan ship. Captain Hook makes my skin crawl. So yeah, goodbye Once Upon a Time!
I'm sure the people on my flist who are K-pop fans are now aware of the big to-do with Girls' Generation and the ouster of Jessica Jung. I'm not going to go into it here since the situation is still unfolding and it's really hard to tell what really happened because you can bet neither side will give the whole picture. All I do know is one of the people on my Facebook newsfeed (I am hesitant to call her my friend now just because of all the stunt she's pulled against not only me but our other friends as well) was panicking yesterday about the news since she's a superfan of the group. Then it got me thinking about how much she's spent on gifts she's sent to some members of Girls' Generation. And it's not just her who does this. A lot of k-pop fans actually send gifts to their idols worth several thousand dollars. Granted they are all members of their groups' fan clubs so it means the expense gets divided up. But it's puzzling to me when they do that. I get that they want to show their appreciation. It just doesn't seem logical to me for fans (who probably earn less) to spend more money on their idols aside from buying their albums and the products they endorse. I don't know. There are fans who donate rice or money in their idols' name which is pretty generous and quite nice. But its not as common. What do you guys think about this phenomenon?
The other day, while my sister and I were out running errands, we saw a Tesla car and it looked so cool. I think it was a
Model S. Now I am not a gearhead but if I were rich, I would totally buy that car. It looked like a car from the future. Really cool!!!
UGH!!! We have another heat wave to contend with. When are we going to get fall weather?!!!!
