I am all about gay rights and all, but what does a day of not talking accompish?...Not to be bitter or caustic of the day, but its..not..really...solving or helping anything that I can see....I'd seriously actually like to be educated of this day. And what it means.

well its to protest the silence of those.. I have a card, to show my teachers next wednesday, and heres what it says... (I'd scan it or somethin.. but.. i can't)

"What are you going to do to end the silence?

Please understand my reasons for not speaking today. I am participating in the Day of Silence, a national youth movement protesting the silence faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their allies. My deliberate silence echoes that silence, which is caused by harassment, prejudice, and discrimination. I believe that ending the silence is the first step toward fighting these injustices. Think about the voices you are not hearing today."

And then, at the end of the day, some people, and I think my school is planing on it, a gather of everyone who does this, to 'Break the Silence"

Go to dayofsilence.org and check it out.. ^.^

I'm going to do it, but it still makes no sense to me that we're supposed to be silent to break the silence.
