Life... and art

My life seems to be moving really quickly at the moment. I finished 3 weeks work experience at Feel Good, graduated (see pics under cut) and I've been job searching pretty heavily for two weeks.

On Friday I had an interview for and got a 2 month graphic and web design placement! So I'm now officially employed! It's pretty decent pay, at £8 per hour ( Read more... )

Aww, you're such a pretty! (Well, you and the sister. I guess you lucked out with good genetics!)

Glad things have been going well for you. I do so like your Feel Good gnomes. And paid work is always a good thing. (Money matters, no matter how much we wish it didn't.)

Okay, so silly question, do you guys close your graduation robes, or were you just hot and left them open? And wow, do the colorful neck things mean you graduated with honors? (We have little tassles here) I remember Teh Sister was very proud of you when that was announced to all and sundry on LJ land :)

lol thankyou!!

nope, we leave our graduation robes open in England. Most Universities have single colour graduation hoods (Cate's was salmon pink) but my Uni's are all 3 colours. I think it might have something to do with the fact that it's a pretty 'new' university rather than one of the old ones. But I did graduate with Honours! Go me XD

Ooh, the things I've learned. So we definately close the robes here (which is a pity when you're sitting in full-sun in a personal plastic tent!). And with the exception of the snooty Ivy League schools, most graduation gowns are black. The hoods are only awarded when you complete post-graduate work (Masters degree, Doctoral degree, etc.) and then the length and color of the hoods (and sleeves) denote who has what. The color of the hood is the colors of the school from which you graduated. For example, my undergrad was at NCSU (red & white) and I'll graduate from Wake (gold & black) so my hood'll be gold and black.

It's fun seeing the motorboards. They're a great equilizer IMO. No matter how beautiful you look, or how crappy you do, everyone looks about the same in them. But the tricolored sash, are they coral, royal blue, and tangerine orange? What is your university mascot? And do those colors all go together? It seems like the orange and coral would clash...

It's really interesting the differences in graduation accross the pond. Are your robes plastic? Ours are regular flowy material, cotton or something. The colours depend on which University you go to, but also which department you're in. Mine was an arts degree, so I got blue, along with the gold and pinky colour which are the University's colours.

Mortar boards are fun. Difficult to keep on your head a lot of the time, but you get to do the traditional throw-them-up-in-the-air-and-cheer-HEY!

I love the graduation pictures!!! I like the colour of your sash, so much nicer than our salmon pink and white fur!

And your manga look amazing. I love the art style. Seriously I am in awe of your manga drawing prowess.

How are you and Cate?

*hugs* thankyou! Yeah I remember your graduation robes... the colour wouldn't have been so bad without the fluffy bit attached!

lol thanks :D I probably won't have time to work on the next chapter for months but hey, everyone's gotta have a hobby!

Me and Cate are fine! Well, both really busy. me with all the stuff mentioned in my post and Cate with work stuff and Andy and preparing to move back home. We're all going away as a family next week, which will be nice. Ooh, and of course, we both super excited about coming back to see you (and BuriMyu and possibly TeniMyu) in January/February! I think we're going to have to book our flights fairly soon so we'll definitely talk things through with you in more detail before we do anything!

how are you? *hugs again*
