I was a little wary of making the prospects for Glen so gloomy, but I'm really pleased that you picked up his sense of insurmountable loss from this, as that was, as depressing as this is, kind of what I was going for. I don't know why, I must have been in a proper little paddy when I wrote this. It's just that sometimes the thought of somebody learning to look at the bright side by the end of the story just seems a little odd.
