i don't think that the left's position is quite as enabling as you make it out to be. i believe in personal responsibility and do get quite upset when people whinge about mitigating circumstances that AREN'T self defence when they kill or maim somebody. i think the temporary insanity defence is MUCH overused. there are those of us on the left who are not quite 'if it feels good, do it'.

Speaking as a person who has grown up under labour driven political parties, it was hard for me to understand the differences between Democratic and Republican parties until I studied US history and came to live here. And even then it's still not really clear at times. Liberal and Conservative, Tory and Whig. There are usually 2 sides to every coin. We once had a 3rd party in Barbados ( it was democratic rhetoric driven) but it was really too much for a small nation and it collapsed leaving the two labour parties to fight it out and right now we are basically living in a monopartisan domination ( ... )

Forgive Nika and I, Charlie. We are West indian. Politics is like "small talk" to us. Get two of us together and the chatter about Politics and political theory goes on forever. No really... it's true. I've fallen asleep in the chair of many a party because my parents wouldn't leave as there was talk about a) Politics or b) Cricket and technically, Cricket counts as politics in the WI ( ... )

* scoffs* You know that Trinidad is so going down. The fish are ours. * grumbles* and we'll take Tobago at the end of it. They probably would be better off with B'dos Fish economy. You know they really belong to us anyway. Then well see who really is the top island. You might outnumber us 6 to 1 but we are way smarter.:-P.

My husband is Republican, I am Democrat. We both are wavering on the support of our own parties. You pretty much summed up how a LOT of us are feeling right now - frustrated!

Screw Joe or Fred or Jeff, etc...YOU should run ;-)
