So, am I crazy to even try to have a wedding? Our budget is $2000 total and the most expensive thing looks to be the chaircovers.  I bought my dress for $75 and we have $300 budgeted for food.  We only have 50 people that we're inviting and 8 of those people are in the bridal party.  Our centerpieces are going to cost $110 for 10 of them and the ( Read more... )

*great big hugs* You can totally do a nice wedding on $2000. Ours was only $1000, and I think it turned out pretty nifty. I might be biased though.

I'm sorry your family is not being supportive or caring. That just totally sucks monkeybutts. I wish I had a solution for you, because you deserve better than they're treating you, but all I would do is agree with you about "giving a big old middle finger to my family and running away." And that's super-hard to do. *hugs*

I feel really stupid about it, but honestly, I'm going to be the only female in the family getting married. My sister wants to become a man so traditionally and I have a half brother, so according to tradition, they would only be having to finance my wedding. My mom is like "Well, we bought our flowers from the grocery store and we just had a plain sheet cake, I don't see why you need anything more than that..." >_< It just really gets to me because my dad never once paid child support and my mom is always busy financially helping my little sister. I'm the oldest but I'm on the bottom of the totem pole. I've tried bringing up my feelings once or twice in the last 5 years and my mom says that I'm being overly dramatic and selfish. So yeah...
