So here I go, signing up for another year to do what I claim to love. The question is how much do I actually love it ( Read more... )

Wow. HARSH!

You can "belong" anywhere that you want to. It is really just a state of mind anyway. Any job anyone gets they can feel like they belong. Any hobby someone gets they can feel the same. Just do what you enjoy doing. If you still enjoy Sparkettes, keep doing it. If you feel your love for it waning, take a break. You don't have to quit for good. Just always aim and reach higher. Do you still want to be leading Sparkettes and working at Toys R' Us at thirty? Most likely no. So, how much do you really "belong?"

If the implication here is that I'm doing it to fit in etc.. you're kinda right. But not in a bad way.
It's easy to get lost in college if you don't have something to help you stand out. So yes I do want to 'belong' to something so long as I'm in college.
And I do feel the 'love' waning.. but only because other people continue to ruin it for me.

This will be a better year.

That's not really what I was implying, no. It moreso sounded like you were doing things out of habit. Like, you don't really enjoy it anymore (or at least as much) but, meh, you're used to it. That's why I said just do what makes you happy.

You feel like you don't belong when you don't want to belong. At least that is how I always looked at it. "Standing out" is just about having individuality, not a label or a position.

Also: fuck those other people. Gotta do it for you. Not to appease others, not for acceptance, not to "prove" anything. Certainly easier said than done.

I haven't got to watch you do it yet though, so you can't quit yet!

Will you Pleeeeease consider doing an independent WG this winter? There are some based in Indiana. . . .

I know there are some based in Indiana.
But why? Say I do an independent wG... and then I age out... then what? I can't take it any further unless I tech, and nobody wants me for that as is, really what would change?

So, you do an IA or IO until you age out (which I believe is 22), to get the experience, and then you go for an IW guard. IW does not have any age limits. You can march as long as you want (provided you can keep up! LOL!)

And if you decide to not march an IW guard, having even a year of WGI experience will help tremendously with getting a job.
