*shakes fist at alison*

If there is at least one person on your friends list you would like to take, strip naked, tie to a bed post, lick until they scream, then fuck until both of you are senseless, then wait about five minutes and do it all over again, post this exact sentence in YOUR journal.

agreeing with maeve
that was more than ridiculous
it's already obnoxious to post that shit when you're single and "subtley" trying to send someone a message like an idiotic middle school girl but now you've gone above and beyond

i think it's slightly distasteful to post something like that in your lj when everyone knows who you have in mind. to say that it's "idiotic" to openly display that you have a crush is a bit silly considering that's the point of this particular chain message..

It's a meme. Meme's are meant to be ridiculous. It wouldn't have hurt you (the anons and other dissaprovers) to just TOLERATE the post or ignore it because you weren't entertained, and move on with your lives. Instead you have to waste everybody's time and emotions being prissy little jerks.

This is livejournal. You're not supposed to care. If you do, you're investing too much of yourself in this place.

I saw a meme on alison's journal that made me laugh, and followed the instructions to pass it on and hopefully make a couple more people laugh. Already at least one person on my friends list who wouldn't have seen alison's post has posted it again on their lj and received multiple positive, entertaining replies like Kira's up there.

Step back and take a look at yourselves. There's a time and a place for being distasteful and obnoxious, and it's right here, right now. Leave me be.

Frankly, I was offended by this meme. I have no problem with you (or anyone else) being honest about your feelings, both positive and negative. I have no problem with you going into detail about your experiences. And I have no problem with you choosing to omit certain details about your life. However, memes like these just make everyone feel uncomfortable, without really understanding what you mean. Instead of being vague, either say what you really mean or don't say anything at all. This is certainly not a rant against you personally. In fact, I plan to say the same to all my friends who posted this meme. Also, I have no relation to any of the anonymous commenters.

PS: I personally don't see why this is the time or the place to be obnoxious

Well, I would disagree with some of your points ( ... )

I understand that not everyone feels as I do. But I believe you do care what people think about your journal. Otherwise, why would you have comments on it? Anyway, it seems silly for me to continue this fight in the comments of your journal. I can talk to you in person about this.

I agree with Steven, at least for the most part.
I certainly support his right to present a dissenting opinion.

I will not present my reasons here, because I think that would be silly.

If you wish to engage me in debate, do so in person. I will not be a part of a livejournal comment squabble.

I will say one thing now though, since it's relavent to what I've just said:

As far as #3 goes, I would much rather someone be obnoxious to my face, where I have a chance to respond to them, interact, engage them in a dialog, defend myself, and ask for clarification of their point of view than have them do it on a LJ, where I can do none of those things.
