In spite of myself, I'm a fan of the girly option. But then, maybe I'm just incapable of seeing the full hawtness of the... um... I'm sorry, I can't call it "birly." Maybe I'm incapable of seeing the hawtness of the more butch option. But that black dress is very pretty, and so is the blue one!

Another upside to the dress is that it's probably highly incongruous with the way you usually appear in rugby circles, so it's got that extra attention-grabbing power.

I totally understand your reluctance to use "birl" - I wrote this post for the birls community first which is how it slipped in. :)

That was my thinking behind considering a pretty dress: people on the team would be SHOCKED! In San Fran I bought a pair of (admittedly kind of ridiculous) orange platform heels, and everyone assumed it was a big joke and didn't seem to get that I actually think they're cute and plan on wearing them, come spring. So it would be all, "OH MY GOD PINK in a DRESS?" Which would be fun :)

I too am leaning birly. Your face just looks much more you and fun in the birly outfit. I feel that the faces in the picture must surely be a reflection of how you feel in each outfit and birly just looks better.

Points for observation! I do definitely feel much more comfortable in the birly outfit - heels and skirts are fun but more like "I'm in costume!" fun. And it's probably better to feel happy and comfortable than like I'm wearing a costume. Hmmm...
