I don't know whether it was the beautiful sunny 70 degree weather, or the knowledge that all of my weekends over the next two months will be eaten by rugby, or just a little voice in my soul welling up, but I knew today was going to be a Solo DC Adventure Day. This post made me miss you and DC so much. I love solo adventures through the city.

My favorite part of the Hirshhorn was this sculpture in the basement that was this giant, dark purple half-sphere, and it was so unusual looking that you couldn't tell if it was concave or flat, and your eyes would go back and forth and play tricks on you, and I could stare at it for hours.

Aw we miss you too <3 You have to come visit!

Yes!! I spent a really long time staring at that sculpture, too! I was really bummed out, though, because some college-aged kids looking at it at the same time as me pointed out some dust at the bottom inside of the sphere and noticing that killed the illusion for me.

Awesome! I don't believe I did (was that the film with the three panels of spinning tops?) but I'm usually not as into that kind of art film.

no, though I did love that one (and the elephant as well) - it was one reflecting the incredibly consumeristic nature of americans and how we're literally eating ourselves to death. and it was super artsy and black and white and french as hell. you knows I love me some pretension.
