what i mean by this is while they are lacking in feeling emotion or care for me or others..aka heart
they make up for it in spades..

and if your familiar with the expression
when you say you have something in spades..it means more then enough or over quailifed..
example.."she had sex appeal in spades"

so what iam saying is that what they lack in heart they have more then enough of everything else a person could want or need to make up for it.

but in a literal sense its sounds interesting while thinking of cards<3

erm anyway, if your line was "but what they lack in hearts they make up for in clubs" it would be better.

clubs is also a card suit, so you wouldnt lose that pun.
clubs would also reflect the loveless people who dance in nightclubs to get their jollies.
clubs, as in if you cant get the girl to fall in love with you, club her over the head and drag her home.

remember kids, date rape is a terrible practical joke.
