Well, I really don't have anything to say. Really I'm updating because I am bored. Lately things have been going really well, and even when they aren't that doesn't really bother me. I'm on some sort of emotional high right now. Life really is what you make of it. I'm happy, because I am. I can not even explain it in any other words really. I haven ( Read more... )

Yeah, I keep meaning to call you but I am busy. If I'm free, it's usually after work at label shopper, but then it's late. Maybe I'll try and call you this weekend. No promises, but I would like to. Either way, I know I'll see you over holiday break.

Also, I've been dying to see 'March of the Penguins'. Glad to hear you liked it.

yeah, that's okay. Things have been pretty busy around here too. I should be around for most of the weekend, though not Saturday night. If you want to call, if not you could always look for me online :)

Yep. Penguins was a good documentary.

When I saw 'Harry Potter' a couple weeks ago, there was a preview for an animated movie coming out next year. I think it was called 'Happy Feet'. I couldn't gather what the plot was at all... It was basically a bunch of incredibly cute animated penguins river dancing. I believe I heard Robbin Williams' voice... Either way, it looked horribly cute and very funny. Seems people are taking a nod from 'March of the Penguins'.

Yeah, it's a documentary. It's about how the penguins travel inland to lay their eggs and raise their young. Penguins are pretty amazing.

We should start a Symeon's countdown!!! Weee!

My buddy Aaron said they had to warn people at the theatre cause the penguins have sex or something like that.

The March of the Penguins was a fun movie, but they did a little too much anthropomorphizing with too few facts to call it a documentary. At least that's what my dad and I thought after we saw it.

Have fun at the Earthtones concert! ^^

I disagree. If not a documentary, what else would it be called? I think the point and atmosphere of the movie would have been lost with more facts and statistics. Just because we don't know the exact number of dead penguins doesn't mean that we cannot conclude that many many of them must have died. It is a story of survival and loss. An emotional story, and not suppose to be detatched, as I believe more facts would have made it. As for anthropomorphizim, I honestly didn't see it. I have birds, and believe me, they can be quite human and intelligent. Anthropomorphism...I don't like that word.

Hmm. Now, I'm just rambling. Ah well, not trying to be snippy, it's just what I thought of it.

. . . a movie?

Nah, it's all good. I understand. Maybe I'm just too used to cut-and-dry National Geographic specials. Not that those can't be emotional, but they're definitely more fact-oriented. *grin*

But you're absolutely right. If the film didn't have the emotional theme that it did, it wouldn't be as effective a movie.

And anthropomorphizing is a bitch to spell. But besides that . . . I dunno. On one hand, animals are animals and humans are humans. I do think that animals are intelligent, albeit in a different but not subordinate way, but my main issue is assuming that animals think and feel the same way we do.

On the other hand, biologically speaking, we are animals and are all part of nature. Not to mention that there's very little difference between us genetically.

All I can say is that from all the time I've spent around reptiles, I would never call them human. And for me, that's partly why they're so beautiful; because they are different.
